I get a call from random local numbers every morning around 9 am with a recording talking about my credit card or car warrantee or whatever bullshit scam they are running. I've been blocking the numbers, is there anything else I can really do?

Unfortunately they will open the dev man first thing to check for HyperV or VMWare hardware so even the YouTube guys seem don't seem to get the same yield they used to.

I've been blocking the numbers, is there anything else I can really do? Not block them. That isn't their actual number they are spoofing the caller ID because the callback number is just whatever the caller set it to. By blocking them you are actually blocking someone else and not preventing them from calling you again since they'll just claim to be another number. The most common is to try and use a number close to yours since a lot of people bought phones as a family so got 4 sequential numbers. I get scam calls all the time that come up as "mom". Thankfully she now texts me before calling so it just goes to voicemail if I didn't get a text.

My mom, dad, and I had a conversation with my grandmother on my father's side that basically went along the lines of. . . Microsoft is never going to call you and ask for your information. Your bank is never going to call you and ask for your information. The Police are never going to call you and ask for your information. The CRA are never going to call you and ask for your information. The Phone company is never going to call you and ask for your information. DON'T GIVE OUT INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE TO PEOPLE WHO CALL YOU! We had to do this after I was visiting, talking to my grandfather, and I heard my grandmother on the phone giving the person on the other end of the line her information (address, phone number birthday, account number. . . ). I shouted across the room, "Stop telling them stuff, hang up the phone! They're scammers!" but she she was being asked questions, so she was required by social conventions to answer them. I had to walk over and hit the button to end the call before she gave them her pin numbers. Even after I explained that her bank has a literal advertised policy that they will never call you and ask you for information, she still didn't believe me that it was a scam.

This is VISA MASTERCARD, as you may have heard VISA and MASTERCARD have merged. We had an issue with our server and have incomplete information it shows here that your credit card has a balance of $182,000, this seems rather high and I can look into it if you give me your full credit card number, security code, and your social. If you do not the balance will be due immediately as you are over your credit limit.
