I haven't bought up collections yet, but I've got about 250k stubs left to buy in the AL and 180k on hand, and a lot more on the NL, so that's not happening soon.

I’ve just got the dodgers left in the NL thanks to pulling Acuna. But hoooo boy, are the Dodgers pricey. Despite Ohtani being my favorite player, I can’t hit or pitch with him worth a poo poo. But apparently they fixed his pitching motion this year? The problem is they give him as much control as a shotgun firing spaghetti. Sure, he isn’t Maddux. But he also isn’t Blake Snell.

Big content drop solves a lot of things. New conquest, two programs, new mini season, double XP weekend and quadruple XP cap and the new programs and mini seasons have 40-60k XP per, rather than 4-25k. Seems like they've finally accepted that their pacing on the season track was way too tight.

I understand they might want to put a week or two between a pack being in the shop and a chance to earn one for free. But I'm not even done with Live Series yet, and still have a a gigantic amount of cards I've not seen sniffed. I'm at 188 Season One cards, and doubt I'll hit 280 by the start of Season Two at this rate. I started back into ranked seasons when they dropped the second batch of missions. It just makes more sense to play when you can earn the most points, because I've got no illusions about getting to World Series through ranked alone. I'm not at 11 - 1, and it's kinda a curse. I'm so loving worried about my stupid little record. I know I'm going to get pummeled into the earth pretty soon.

I grabbed the two shop captains packs. Technically you could buy them for 40k and sell the cards for 48-50 for a quick flip if you'd like, because people want to stock them all up. The Ortiz card is insane for the new Mini Season, with 99 OVR and maxed out stats vs righties. I think I may hold on to him. Santana is really in meta conversations in Ranked I think, because getting a team of 10-13 switch hitters and getting a huge contact boost seems to be very very good in high ranked. Less important in my purely offline play so I'll probably flip him back out before the pack shows up in a program somewhere.

I got the Kershaw card because Dribble works and whatever a bunch of lefties in the team isn't the worst thing in the world. I'll probably get the Santana one later when I get too frustrated with that.

I have no idea why, but I rake with lefties far better than righties. Even lefty/lefty, I'm a menace. But if a person pitches me inside righty/righty, I'm hosed. I literally think it has something to do with how I hold the controller or look at the screen. I simply cannot hit inside pitches righty/righty. If I got the Kershaw and Santana captains, I might never lose again. I'm now 12-1. I matched with a person 100 points over my ranking with a God Squad including DeGrom. He hit me for three in the first inning, and I thought I was hosed. Then I shoved DeGrom so far up his own rear end the dude quit by the end of the third.

Righty/Righty I just used to sit up and in and wait for something straight and try to be early on it to launch it. Worked okay. Once you launch one people generally won't throw there again nonstop. Online I just try to throw sinkers down and in until the opp shows me they can hit it then I'll start mixing it up, but half the time I could just throw that one pitch constantly or sliders out of the zone and never need to do anything else.

Right now, my God Squad is an even split between lefties and switch hitters. I've reached the point where I'll sub out Griffey for a righty if they're pitching a lefty starter. But some of my lefties have better splits against lefty pitchers than righties. The one righty I'm a loving monster with in any situation has always been Jimmy Foxx. So of course he isn't in the game yet. This is how I'm immune to people spamming righty/righty sinkers. They just don't have the chance to try it for more than a batter. If they spam lefty/lefty inside pitches, I'll eat them. Also, Ohtani is a lot better of a pitcher this season. But his control is so bad, I find him unusable. Which is sad, being as he is one of my favorite players.

I have to share with someone. I played a ranked game yesterday, and was getting stomped. Which is fine, it happens. But when the person doing the stomping starts bunt pumping, trying to pull off squeezes, and other poo poo, it stings. I was down 8 - 0 in the fifth, and barely avoided getting mercy'd. Then I proceeded to summon every ounce of skill I've ever had, and stormed back to beat the rear end in a top hat 10 - 8. (Brady Storm was my opponent, not me.)

Trying the complaining on the internet trick but also is anyone else banging their head against Nick Lodolo specifically in the classics showdown? If he isn’t pinpointing every pitch to where I can do nothing with it, I’m hitting perfect perfects directly into Ellys glove

I got through the showdown on the first try, but Lodolo almost folded me for that exact reason. He is clearly throwing the most unintentional dots I've ever seen, then each of the Reds turned into Ozzie Smith. You are not alone. I finally lost my second ranked game last night, making me 14-2. But the infuriating thing? My diamond fielding second baseman dropped a double play ball, with bases loaded. Then Griffey dropped a bases loaded FLY BALL. I've been playing the Show for four years now, and never seen a fielder just drop a pop up. It felt like the game decided it was my times to lose.

I was on a decent 7-0 BR run and lost to someone with like 5 wins and 27 losses. He put up 9 runs in the first inning and threw a perfect game. Some days just be like that.

I had a weird one the other night. Tie game in the bottom of the 10th, bases loaded against me, one out and the CPU hist a fly ball foul deep down the right field line. I have defense set to "assisted" and by the time I realized that, if I caught the ball, I'd be giving up a sac fly, I couldn't get the right fielder to disengage and he caught it anyway. Runner tags, I lose. I guess I should have tried diving or jumping because moving the stick away from the catch area wasn't doing anything. Maybe the AI thought I had a play at the plate but the ball was hit pretty deep.

I know this is just coping, but sometimes poo poo just gets weird. I took my third loss yesterday, taking me to 14-3. Except this guy had no clue how to pitch, and was swinging out of his shoes at everything. I hit home runs with my first three batters, and was threatening constantly. I was striking them out of three straight sliders, batter after batter. Then the fourth inning came around. They became ridiculous at the plate, working almost every count full and hitting deep flies most of the time. They also started pitching me like a psychic. They tied it up, and kept me from scoring until extras. (Of course I scored my ghost runner in extras, so they somehow hit a bloop + perfect gap shot to win. But that's fine, it happens.) Tldr - I swear to God, sometimes you are playing two people in the same game.

I'm curious for my competitive buddies in this thread - which relievers do you trust? In every game, Billy Wagner is my most reliable arm. I've got the Team Affinity Billy Wagner as one of my only P5 cards. Yet he seems to be a choke artist, and I'm dumbfounded as to why. I've always been dominant with him, but even last night he blew a save. I walked it off in the night inning, but I'm not used to him being such junk. Relivers I trust - - Gold Evan Phillips - Diamond Joe Kelly - Diamond Rollie Fingers - Diamond Kendall Gravemann - Diamond Rasial Inglesias Relievers who might be trustworthy - - Diamond Joe Franco - That soft tossing weekly rewards lefty Met guy Relievers who get shelled when I use them - - Diamond Wagner - Diamond Kenly Jansen - Diamond Aaron Bummer

Not trying to bring the thread down but I threw in on the towel on this game the other week. The progression for a casual player was just too slow. That and sets just made things seem not worth playing more and I'd always be behind the curve online. Also I like competitive games but I kinda feel like this one requires a monitor or using game mode + stick accessories etc even to be ok at a crap level and I realized that I'm not gonna do that. Hey at least it was free with gamepass.

I "finished" Season Two of ranked, largely by waiting for the second mission drop before going hard at it, with a record of 17-4. I am absolutely playing over my skis at the moment, and would get smacked into oblivion if I staggered my way into Hall of Fame. Where is everyone else landing in their ranked journeys?
