Itzy Japanese prerelease. Cool mix of sounds and a solid track.

Twice also announced their next Japanese full length :f5:

I'm a little mixed on solar's album overall. I like the branching out even if mostly it didn't land super well for me. The last song was my favorite, fitting into her "big voice" sort of area that I think she's more comfortable in (because she's done a bunch of stuff like that). All in all pretty good, even if none of it really grabbed me like how spit it out did. I think I like the title better than honey though I think honey is a catchier song.

Xdinary Heroes finally put out a straight rock song and its good. They recently covered Black Parade and this definitely follows in some ways, hope they can stick to this sound.

Yeah, that and the deep bass give it a massive sound. That production is incredible.

Winner POTM July 2013
The other choruses just stay on F minor for the whole line but then the last chorus keeps the same melody but changes the chords to Db-Eb-Fm. It's not really a key change but the major chords change the harmony and the added movement and syncopation makes it more dynamic

You're in for a treat because they have one of the most solid discographies out there.

ive b-sides never really grab me but their singles are all good to great

todays kvariety to kill time at work was this two hour video on jaeseok’s channel where they turned the little office into a dance club at 9 am. had to use a VPN because of music rights but it has eng subs still. they had sakura and chaewon and byul and kwill just dancing and some of his regular comedians and then (actresses) park boyoung and lim soojung who everybody was in awe of lol. then dynamicduo did like five songs, I feel like they might be the authentic korean rap that best translates to the US. they feel like people under the stairs or something where theyre hitting the sweet spot of like guys approaching middle age and doing a modernized version of old school rap and it being a good groove instead of a little embarrassing

Dang, I think a lot of their b-sides are as good as the singles. I definitely wouldn't credit them with pushing the medium forward or having the most talented dancers or strongest singers (although Liz and Yujin are great), but I don't think I could name another group that puts out solid music with as much sheer consistency. IMO there's only like 3-4 skips on their entire discography.

Those are some of my fav b sides too, especially Holy Moly. Liz and Yujin are great vocalists and the rest fill their roles well, and Yujin's performance level is up there with the best I've seen, easily top 3.

Ive isn't my top likes but I'd put them solidly ahead of the middle. I think they honestly should be higher but they generally fall a touch short of being *really* good. Also I don't trust starship more than I can throw them in terms of managing a group.

gotta see the non-big-4 acts in the US while you can, we're not gonna get any nugu tours once these visa fee increases go through

These smaller tours will likely be safe as they have small numbers of staff traveling with the group. The big tours are also safe because they're obviously pulling in millions. It's the mid size tours that will be hurt the most, as they still have a significant number of staff/backup dancers traveling but aren't hitting arenas and up. They could be looking at 100k visa fees upfront which means its not financially viable or they have to cut back significantly and hire more domestically for stuff like stylists, dancers, etc. Idle's last tour had like 30ish people traveling but they were playing venues that capped at like 4k.

They could also add more shows to make the fees worth it, but that's not as cut and dry as it seems with scheduling and demand.

I don't know how these lists are put together, but as someone who doesn't really follow boy groups I do find their boy group blindness/girl group bias a little amusing.

That's a pretty good cross section of the current scene. Biggest omissions are Ive and Newjeans. The GG/BG distribution looks about right too, there are just more top tier GGs active right now.

Also, been really hooked on Chung Ha's I'm Ready. Great anthem.
