Hey, just wondering what good low fantasy novels (or short story collections, etc) are floating around these days, that are perhaps worth looking into? Obviously I'm aware of and love The Black Company, but I'm not sure what else falls into the category. I quite like the style of TBC, where it's all from a grunt's "no such thing as black and white" perspective of war, with magic being very rare, etc.

Terry Pratchett’s Monstrous Regiment fits the bill perfectly. It’s a stand-alone book so no worries about the wider Discworld continuity.
