Got a GoPro for xmas, finally tried out one of the helmet mounts today. First video so (of course) it ended up pointed way too far down, but I made this short clip showing how slowing down and reducing handlebar input on a muddy section almost gave me a face full of dirt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojvH47SFZeI It doesn't look very dramatic but if it's happened to you you'll know the feeling!

speaking of that particular livery... this tidy little NC30 has been on the local classifieds for the past few months, £2000, if only I had the spare cash

Crazy new Czech bike that might make limited production. 240hp 2.5 Liter V6 in a motorcycle? Yes please. I do love how we're getting more 6-cylinder bikes now. More here: http://www.autoevolution.com/news/fgr-midalu-2500-v6-motorcycle-introduced-29787.html

So I test rode my first Harley-Davidson today, it's my dad's coworker friend, he is fairly willing to sell it, here are my general impressions. It's a 2001 Sportster custom 1200. The seating position is pretty drat weird, at least coming from a standard GS500/cbr600/ZX-6r, I could never really get comfortable with it, the handle bars felt like they swept TOO far back and made it awkward grabbing the handlebars. The footpegs are HUGE and the space between the peg ands the shifter/rear brake seemed really far, I really had to stretch my foot out to change gears. I was playing around with it around town, so I never really took it beyond 35mph. The power at least off the bottom is pretty good, it's very easy to get going on the bike, the clutch pull is quite heavy, it started to hurt my finger muscles a bit. Also the front brake kept giving me this pulsating feeling, almost like ABS, only i'm pretty sure these bikes don't come with ABS, that said, the front brake didn't really inspire a lot of confidence, oh yeah, the brake lever pull seemed pretty heavy too. Neutral was almost IMPOSSIBLE to find, I would give the shift lever a very gentle push up or down but it kept going into first or 2nd, I only managed to get neutral once, and my left hand got really tired of holding that drat clutch lever in. Handling felt really VAGUE, like i'd put pressure on the handlebars but the whole bike just felt reluctant to change directions or go into a corner. That being said the engine did sound pretty good, the owner installed some Screaming Eagle pipes on it, the vibration coming from the engine made me kinda nervous at first because you feel it in the WHOLE bike either idling or on the move, especially in the seat. Definitely not the buttery smoothness of the Japanese inline 4s or even my Suzuki's parallel twin. I know that the newer ones have rubber mounted engines which eased the vibrations a bit. 5000 rpm redline is pretty lol for a motorcycle. Anyways, for all it's negatives, it's kinda cool in a different way, i'm not sure if it's something i'd like to daily commute on, but taking it to work once every week or 2 wouldn't be so bad. It's also a pretty good looking bike overall. That being said, I don't think i'd pay more than 3000$ for it. Pictures: Totally needs a rear tire.

I finally got my sumo setup on the road! It's a blast. The smaller wheel changes the gearing to ridiculously short; you just have to imagine your wheel lifting and it's immediately up. I'm too chicken to try anything silly just yet...
