Gravity Pike posted:Try doing a hot-rinse of your cup before you make tea in it. Fill it with hot water, let it sit for a few seconds, dump the water out, then make your tea. I'm not 100% sure that this will make things better, but I'd be willing to bet that the heat you're missing is going directly into your cup. It will definitely help a lot. As soon as the electric heater turns off, the water starts to lose heat to the equipment itself. If the mug is at room temperature (and depending how thick it is) you can expect to loose a lot of heat from the water to warm it up. If you want to test, try filling a cup for a few minutes, empty it, re-fill and re check the temp. Ideally an electric heater would turn on/off to keep the water around the desired temp.

I recently bought a mircowave that has a bright-as-gently caress blue display. Is there anything I can do to it so I can sleep a little better at night (I'm in a barracks room, so it's going to be in the same room as my bed no matter what I do)?

Cover the display with electrical tape when you sleep.

You might be abe to eyeball whether a tire that's 1" greater in radius is going rub anything, namely the inner fender and suspension pieces. You gotta weigh that against some tire shop putting your car on the lift, throwing a wheel on there, seeing that it won't fit, and still charging you labor and costing you time.

Then I realized how loving expensive it is to actually develop a product and enlisted the help of a friend of mine who works with VC's/angel funds. If I didn't know him I could have hired someone like him too. I also ended up hiring a software engineer and a medical device specialist to help. That's more or less the same story told by friends of mine who built custom valve amplifiers. They had everything covered professionally from EE to marketing and everything inbetween and still had to struggle like you wouldn't believe; despite keen industry and customer interest - followed up by decent-sized orders. The amount of tax, legal, and bureaucracy hoops they had to jump through was ridiculous. No sleep, no weekends, no vacations, etc. for 3 years. And in the end they still got overwhelmed by various cost factors and stuff that had nothing to do with their (really great) product. randyest posted:And going from prototype/proof of concept to manufacturing, marketing, and logistics costs even more. This is basically where things can turn sour really quickly. Just about the first and best caveat you could give to anyone.

My toilet has some sort of shredding device attached to it because the soil pipe is narrow, I think. It's started making more of a grinding noise than a whirring noise and now sounds quite raucous. What is the proper name for this device?

How do networks determine which out-of-market NFL games to show? I live in Seahawks territory, so we'll always get those games, but for instance right now CBS is showing the Jets-Patriots game. Meanwhile, the other three games happening right now all feature west coast teams, including another team from the Seahawks own division. So why is our only choice the game with zero local impact or interest?

I think it's based on television ratings for the team(s) games out of market. NE, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Etc have a lot of out of market fans.

How bad are diet sodas, really? I've been writing and revising my Master's thesis the past two months and have been guzzling down diet cokes like there's no tommorrow. I heard the scare over aspartame isn't warranted, because beer forms 10 times as much formaldehye in your gut. Any thoughts?

Does anyone know this website I can't remember? It starts with an e and the whole website name is a play on a word. Its an old video website before youtube. It has mostly shock, porn, and racist videos. Its not a "tube" site per say, you can't upload videos yourself. It is flash however and they used to offer WMV downloads of the videos. Its not ebaumsworld or efukt.

Are there any oddly-shaped goons that can help me out with clothing my gross body cheaply? I'm 5'6 and 110lbs, and a dude. I need to find plain button-up collared shirts, and size 29x29 slacks, as cheaply as possibly. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am comfortable with picking from the women's selection if necessary, as long as this stuff is plain. I just got a rather professional job and I need something that looks acceptable for a marketing position.

How do I punctuate something where someone is speaking and they talk about what somebody else said, but it's not a direct quote? For example:quote:We were talking and his basic message was, "Yeah, I came here to see her." But the part in quotations isn't a direct quote. It's just the speaker taking the voice of that guy.

I've seen a situation where a comma was used to start off the first person voice, no quotes were used, and a capital was used on the first word.
