This year's winter village set had a bench, too. Besides, i though the calendar bench was a prison bench.

ChibiSoma posted:Only problem I've had so far is telling which drat color the little round pieces are. Thought the instructions listed the grey pieces for the front of the roadster. Then I ran into a different section that required those and I only had one spare. So I grab the box and look and sure enough, the front needed the clear pieces. They look almost exactly the same in the booklet, and I'm under solid lighting. Those little bastards grip like velcro, too. Yeah, I run into this a lot. Especially because it's sometimes hard to tell if the instructions mean a black piece, a dark grey piece or a light grey piece. They all look pretty similar unless you've got them side by side on the same page.

Finished assembling the Microbus last night. Holy crap, this thing owns! First time I've actually put stickers on any set I've bought in the last 10 years, too, because it just didn't seem complete without them.

I've seen stores both sides of the Atlantic awash with series 5 bags still, so retailers might be a bit more cautious about ordering in future waves.

With all the sales, I ended up picking up the entire alien conquest line. It really is pretty good I like the old school mixed in with the new. the PPP point is getting up there even on non licenced sets so it took a sale to justify me going after it. One of the new creator sets (motorcycle) has large technic wheels making its PPP lower than it should be but those tires are at least $4 on bricklink The alien tripod was way more fun than it should be. I almost want a second one already

I can't wait for the mini Shuttle. Even if the TIE fighter just has 6 parts it's still super rad. I'm going to have to buy one of those large Star Destroyer sets and have dozens of mini TIE fighters in formation around it. I didn't even know that was a chair until today. I couldn't figure out what the hell it was, maybe you combined all the random extra pieces at the end to make a bigger final ship or something, like a GO-BOT.

Oh man, the little x-wing for the advent calendar today. Its so perfect! e: I didn't have the parts to build a second one (apparently you still wind up missing all kinds of useful little things after 100 pounds of lego), so I built a tiny X-Ceptor instead. Building at a micro scale is surprisingly difficult. mynnna fucked around with this message at 07:38 on Dec 10, 2011 |

I picked up another one, $17 was just too tempting to not have two of them. The mothership for me is the neatest yet most disapointing set out of all of alien conquest, calling it a mothership when all it holds is a single alien (granted a really pimping kickass alien) feels like something lost in translation. even with the sale, it was so close to being on the chopping block. I am also eyeballing the new creator stuff, the motorcycle and propeller plane. the yellow sports car I am on the fense about. I love the fact the motorcycle gives us easier access to the wheen it uses for moc's instead of paying $4 on bricklink for a wheel, I might end up buying a few sets just for that.

I saw these in an old edition of BrickJournal a while back, but I was thinking about them again today and thought I'd share; prototype space themes, including some that were never made: Blacktron I, obviously. It seems like they figured out the general color scheme and look they wanted at this point. Still, the weird bubble canopies are pretty different. I suppose they got kicked down the road to Blacktron II Space Police I. Besides the crazy never made wing pieces, this looks more like SP II to me. M:Tron, believe it or not. Obviously became SP II instead. An unnamed theme. I don't much care for it beyond the parts. It looks like sand purple to me. In 1989. I love this one though and, seeing it, I'm sad a base like this wasn't ever made. The big clear pieces have the same profile as the large 1/4 domes so popular back then. Also, that's a lot of SNOT for an 80s official set. I'm inspired to build space now. More here.

^That monorail set never got made because the Futuron monorail did not sell as well as TLG hoped. I love these old prototype photos. Europa is probably my favourite unreleased theme but I can see why it wasn't. Also these photos are all from brick journal and are not supposed to be reproduced anywhere else. I've seen complaints about them being posted on other forums, but gently caress it, if they wanna complain here on SA they can pay for the privelage. Here is the Seatron alien Minifig. A non-smooth torso!

Wait, if they combine Seatron with Alien Invasion, we have X-Com 2, Terror from the Deep!! How awesome would that be? I guess you can mix in Atlantis as well, so you'll have the classic space tripod of police, civilians, and villains. Atlantis team raiding the temples. The fish monsters there ally with the invading Aliens. Alien Defense Unit forced to go underwater.

That sounds like Sabre Island: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6265-1 Otherwise, maybe Lagoon Lock-Up: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6267-1 Both were part of the Pirates line up. Europa looks like an excellent mix of Pirates and Castle.

Something about those old unreleased prototypes brings me right back to being a kid in the late '80s and early '90s. Every year I'd wait with growing excitement to find out what kind of awesome new Space theme Lego would release. My brother and I would guess at what colors each new theme would have, and try to guess how we'd integrate the new faction into our ongoing space battle storylines... good times.
