That is seriously so loving depressive. But hey! The little cute lamb is going to die for God! Yay! More crappy stuff: Reasons why it's ugly for me? Aside from being so generic. Look at their EYES. Look at the dragon girl's "sexy" and "cute" pose. It always creeped me out seeing those posters in real life.

Baron von Eevl posted:That's probably the Golgotha and it's probably Jesus up there dying. Looking at the poster, it just seems to be "Jesus: The animal movie". They basically had the choice between naming it "Jesus" / "The Lion of Judah" / "Lamb of God", and they must have figured that "The Lion of Judah" would attract more people or make the movie stand out amongst all the Jesus movies. A Buttery Pastry posted:Judah the biblical person doesn't have anything to do with this poster I think, other than being in the bible and being the source of the name of the tribe of Judah and later the Kingdom of Judah. No, I mean Judah the lamb in the movie. They got this lamb and threw him in a box and carted him off.

A Buttery Pastry posted:Whoops, sorry, missed that the lamb was actually called Judah. That's just confusing as hell. The lamb is still Jesus though, right? Pretty sure the story is going to be about the lamb was set up to be sacrificed but because of Jesus' sacrifice he doesn't need to be. As in the practice of sacrificing a lamb for Passover being replaced by Jesus in Christian theology. edit: please post that horse face some more, not being sarcastic. Also that creepy female dragon is wearing a sportsbra I think.

Let's just sum it up and say that the most obvious sacrifice here is that of the religious allegory for the sake of funny talking animals.

Also, yeah, the Hellraiser 3 one there is recycled from the original. If you've ever seen Hellraiser 3, you will know that creativity and being...well...good, were not exactly in that movies wheelhouse. If I wanted to shame myself I'd say the "demon" in the 3rd poster is taken from Barker's book "The Thief Of Always" Which was Barkers take on a childrens book which involved timeless beings kidnapping kids and bastards running around with huges gob full of making GBS threads sharp teeth. Cheers, Clive!

Cheers, Clive! Thief of Always was published in 1992, though, five years after Hellraider was released. I'd say it's more likely that it's just another Barker illustration thrown in there.

The first poster makes it look like a drama, probably the dog dies, or is injured, or they have to put it down, you know what I'm talking about*. Second one like it's a funny movie about a dog doing wacky things during the war, with lots of fart jokes. *I haven't seen this movie, so it's not a spoiler.

I haven't seen it either but if you don't cry when they have to saw off the dog's leg to keep gangrene from spreading well you just have no soul. It is pretty funny seeing him trying to load his gun with paws, especially since someone is charging him. I won't spoil what happens.

Kurtofan posted:That poster and the other ones : I won't go " This offended my female eyes and feelings!!" Because the posters are well done, and reflect what the movie is about, that's a well done job. Also I think ,and I hope, that they actually made a photoshoot for this, instead of slapping different people together in photoshop. I find the last one less tasteful and more misogynist for some weird reason. It's perhaps the way they are laughing and how it looks they're about to do a brofist or something. I guess it's the same as when they censor cursing with funny words, making everything worse.

I think it's because in the first three, the character is the one objectifying the women; in the last one, he's in the background while we're treated to a charming crotch shot and some cleavage. It changes the message of the poster from "this character is a womanizer" to "HEY TITTIES".
