I guess it struck me as odd because I've had that photo set posted for almost two years before it got all popular.

How is that achieved, I would have thought on a digital camera that such a long exposure would cause dead-pixels on the sensor. Let alone the actual logistics, how does one tell the shutter to stay open for 9 hours? (Sound like a right newbie here but am I right in thinking he'd take an image every X minutes then blend them together?)

More camera nonsense from DealExtreme, for the friend in your life who needs to show off that they have both Apple and Leica products.

Set one up and they seem to respect your space a little more. Granted, I don't suspect setting up camp with a tripod in Manhattan would go over well. Photographers might respect you, but pedestrians certainly won't.

You can also use a tool like The Photographer's Ephermis to find the appropriate dates for 'Henges in your town for something more unique.

Here's a scan of my portrait - it's a quarter plate. They used a Sinar F with a Schneider Symmar-S 210mm f/5.6 wide open, along with a bunch of Profoto lights with modifiers. Although I think mine is pretty good, my girlfriend was less than satisfied with her portrait - the woman operating the camera didn't put as much thought into composition and posing as I'd have thought, though she was meticulous about lighting/exposure and focusing. One of the founders (I think) was there and he was nice enough about it to give us a gift certificate so we can have a reshoot sometime. Aside from the tintype stuff they've also got Lomography cameras/film, instant cameras (refurbished Polaroids and Instax cameras), and Impossible Project/Fuji instant film.

No, the fact that you had/have enough money to buy it is justification enough. At least with a 1D you can never blame the results on the equipment!

I can't fathom why you would want to do this. The T2i is plastic and only has one control wheel. If you're gonna switch to Canon at least get something analogous to your D80.

I was playing around with a friend's T2i in Switzerland and it was nice to handle, though the one scroll wheel was a bastard. I shoot manual mode only so I've made it that far. It's just the nagging kernel of doubt that I didn't get the best bang for my buck you know?

xzzy posted:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1tTBncIsm8 Yes, but... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYif6YYVlAw For low-light stills, the lesser processing power on the T2i is definitely apparent. But for ISO 640 and under, it's pretty much a 7D. And on video mode performance (if that's even relevant to you), it is virtually the same as a 7D. The D80 has superior noise performance, but if you can spare the high ISO handheld shots for longer exposure tripod shots, then a T2i is pretty much a baby 7D. ...Or at least, I've loved the time I've spent with my friend's. For the first few months, I almost felt bad for spending extra on a 60D -- over a year later, different story.

I was in Uniqlo yesterday and they have this big "corporate collaboration" clothing line at the moment, with the usual expected animu and video game tie ins but they also had a few camera ones. I found t shirts for Sinar, the X100 and (comedy option) the Pentax Q. Geeky but pretty neat. Uniqlo just opened up some US stores didn't they?
