I think this is "妃", which does kinda mean princess (a more precise translation would be "imperial concubine"), but it's upside down. A better one-character representation of princess would be "姫".

You know, it being upside down would explain a lot.

That drives me to a related question: What's with people and bad text tattoos? I know both Chinese and English, but have never wanted to do a text tattoo in either language, much less one in an ugly handwriting/font.

Gothic Lolita posted:It's Japanese (possibly of the Weeaboo kind), pronounced "hime". Because of this, maybe? edit: wow, that is a big image. ________________________________________________________________________________ Edit: I just grabbed the Mononoke image because I remembered my friend telling me how it was pronounced in Japan (I was taking Japanese and she was taking Chinese) and I thought she said it was Mononokehime. If I had given a poo poo about it, maybe I would have found out on my own. But I am a terrible student. At least I wasn't taking Japanese due to anime. I think the whole Weeaboo thing started gaining momentum about a year after I left college. To add to your sperg, b/c I am also fond of sperging about my random interests, Chinese characters flowed to Japan due to the spread of Buddhism. I wanted to tack on bad Buddha tattoos to this post, but I'm having trouble finding truly crabby and/or tasteless Buddha tattoos. A lot of Japanese words using kanji are written exactly the same as the Chinese equivalents since kanji came from the Japanese court using Chinese script to represent Japanese spoken language before they developed their own script. They're pronounced differently between the two languages though as the spoken languages are unrelated. 日本, the name of Japan, is rì(sun) běn(origin) in Chinese and ni(sun) hon/ppon(origin) in Japanese(my apologies for probably butchering the romanji, Japanese speakers), for example. It's a shame that weeaboos never go get random Japanese tattoos the same way so many people seem to ask for random Chinese characters, I'd love to see a weeaboo ask for 'something badass' in Japanese and then get something like 私わばかアメリカ人です tattooed onto them. (Watashi wa baka amerika jin desu, or 'I'm a dumb American'. Pardon my most likely sloppy Japanese, it's been a while.) It contains three of the only 10 or so words they know in Japanese, but they'd never know it because they never bothered learning how to read it. (This is me going off the knowledge of what half the people in my Japanese classes in high school and college were like. They were just there to watch some undubbed Animu, man!)

I've seen a lot of local Korean students with some grammatically questionable English tattoos but nothing outright wrong just awkward or poorly phrased.

When I did my study abroad in Japan, I made a point of picking up amusing English language shirts. I have "Daread Speak,""The beauty that is yours puts us in heartworming mood," and that's not a typo, it say heartworming, and another one that was just a bunch of letters that look like a word. While I was explaining to my host mother what was funny about the shirts, I found out it's a pretty common hobby to collect English print and kind of make gibberish poem collages out of them. I think they use the fonts to decide where the words should go. Which I think is actually pretty cool, 'cause I like looking at typefaces, too. I just never wanted to put them on my body. zoux posted:That's a reference to this. Bored has a new favorite as of 18:42 on May 10, 2013 |

A few years ago someone emailed pictures of this woman and her genital piercings to people at work. The server firewall manages to block pictures of skin-toned sweaters, but it completely failed with her because it didn't recognise her as human.

dick head tattoo lady posted:Over the next few years Paul continued to tattoo me, doing work on my hands, forehead and neck and in 2006 I decided I would get the whole of the top of my head tattooed. The most concerning aspect of this venture was that I had to have all my hair removed and my head shaved which I knew would be for the rest of my life. At first it was a shock but I soon loved it. When Paul set about tattooing it I left the choice of subject to him but when I found out that he was tattooing penises all over the back of my head I couldn’t believe it at first but I must admit that I soon loved the work and asked him to continue with this theme over the whole of the head. Welp. Might as well get more dick tattoos!
