Right. I used to explain my positions. Then I tried arguing. After that, I tried insulting their belief systems. Now, I just recognize openly that these people are twisted so far around that they're settling on classism to avoid nuanced thought. It makes me want to vomit, and I'll let them know that they make me viscerally ill with their opinions. RagnarokAngel posted:He probably will just say he doesn't do drugs so whatever. "The innocent have nothing to hide" is an easy doctrine to preach until it affects you. It drives me damnably nuts, especially since 1.) The person who posted this originally works in a drat doughnut shop, he doesn't get drug tested and smokes weed every day. 2.) The person responding with these virulent diatribes against the impoverished is self-employed, so he doesn't even have to answer to this system he's advocating. What sort of bastards try to expand the lovely war on drugs when they know they're never going to be touched? I didn't even blur it that well because I don't care, one of us is in the wrong here and it's pretty obvious that it's the one with the broad brush in hand.

Michigan was the first State to actually implement suspicionless drug testing for potential welfare recipients, back in 1999. When it was deemed unconstitutional, U.S. District Court Judge Victoria Roberts wrote this for her court's opinion: http://scholar.google.com/scholar_case?case=13040978699174765839&hl=en&as_sdt=2&as_vis=1&oi=scholarr Marchwinski v. Howard posted:"If the State is allowed to drug test FIP (TANF) recipients in order to ameliorate child abuse and neglect by virtue of its financial assistance on behalf of minor children, that excuse could be used for testing the parents of all children who receive Medicaid, State Emergency Relief, educational grants or loans, public education or any other benefit from the State. In all cases in which the State offers a benefit on behalf of minor children, the State could claim that it has a broad interest in the care of those children which overcomes the privacy rights of the parents." I rather like that.

I think we should periodically do drug and alcohol tests on congress, the same way they do it in the military. Pants down to your ankles so we can be sure you're not wearing a whizzinator and an inspector who keeps visual control of the test bottle at all times. I'd like to see how long it'd stay legal in the US. (Who am I kidding, they'd just make it illegal to treat rich people that way)

Every time a state tries passing one of these bills, a Democratic representative invariably offers up a bill that would also require the drug testing of the legislature since they all receive public money. None of the amendments ever passes. Dr Christmas posted:Is "We should drug test Wall Street, BP, and the Koch brothers if they want subsides" a thing? Even the original TARP legislation under Bush had to be passed with Democrats providing the main support.

This week in LL101 ...is this relevant to a single freaking thing? Boy Scouts. "Dammit. Now that the Boy Scouts are forcing us to be tolerant of others, we have no CHOICE but to pull our kids out and never fund the organisation again. drat those Liberals, they've discovered our one weakness - we're complete shitheads." ....yoga? How do we improve a funny internet meme? Relentlessly shoe horn in our own paranoid rants and talking points! Months old rumor? Didn't ever happen in the first place? Centered around one instance of one show and ignoring the hundreds of counter arguments one can find on nearly every sitcom made in the last 50 years? ITS A LIBERAL CONSPIRACY!

I think it's Duck Dynasty, which is an A&E reality show about a family who owns a business that makes hunting gear. Basically like The Osbournes but with more camo and beards, I guess? I'd never heard of it before my sister and brother in law started posting the odd meme from the show on Facebook. Anyway, there was a fake controversy about how the show was going to be cancelled because liberals were complaining about all the praying the family does on-air. Both the family and the show runners said that was not true (but what do they know?). Turns out the rumor had started because the family and the network were arguing over salary, and after circulating through the rightwing chain-letter rage machine it became a liberal plot to destroy Jesus. edit: Snoped

I am horribly offended by some of the words that awful man used, like "buckaroobas." Also, I don't know what human rights the Chinese are going to take away from American workers in America, unless they're going to move the entire pig operation to China (also they'd have to try drat hard to have a worse record on worker's rights than Smithfield Foods). And if he's worried that Smithfield Foods is going to be stripped for parts and dissolved, I really don't see how boycotting Smithfield will save those American jobs.

Fourth one is exclusively about Aids, and I bring out my counterargument that Lesbians contract STD's a hundredth the rate of heterosexual couples, and the Aids rate dropping to less than one five-thousandth. The second 4 have even less of a claim to reality, coming from insane ravings of dickheads. I swear, most of their arguments seem to come from the premise of "The people I oppress are just as vindictive and hateful as I am, so you see, I can't stop oppressing them, or they would oppress me!"
