Auuuugh I wish I could get a bird. I love sun conures so much and while I like cherry-headeds more the Sun is (a) easier to find around here and (b) probably the closest I'm going to get to a Carolina parakeet. Maybe by the end of the summer I'll finally be caught up on fixing all of this broken boat poo poo.

Suns are fun, albeit very loud :)

Same story, different version.

Jade has her standard "s'gooooood?" schmooze for when she wants to have what you are eating. I heard her doing it in the other room and got confused because as far as I knew dinner was over.
"S'goo? S'gooood?"
"Baby, what's she doing!"
"Trying to get me to come closer so she can puke on me-"
"S'goood!"
"No I don't want it!"

So, I think he is starting to calm, he is tame, and he can step up fairly well, I just need to get him to do it on command, I just wish he would try some of the foods so I could reward him with treats for doing so.

Your bird will love you soon enough, you just have to remember that they haven't been tamed/bred to be good pets for thousands of years like dogs and cats have, so they still retain that wild bird natural fear of everything new. It's kinda like a baby version of going into an adult big dogs yard for the first time, they have to learn to trust you.

E: IMO until he seems really secure in his cage, I'd try to keep handling to a minimum. For sure get him to step up but try not to give him too much new stimuli until he's proper settled.

Yeah I've been limiting it to stepping up off his perch and back on again. I just wanted him to be comfortable stepping up in case of emergency.

Pion has been having brown poop the last 3 days, instead of the usual green. The large one right after waking up seems to have more normal colors, however: Partially brown, partially green.
I don't think I have changed anything particular about her diet.

Edit: Okay, a little reading tells me it might not really be a problem. Might just be her eating more of the pellets in the feed mix I'm using. The shape, composition and consistency all seem normal.

Yeah, Captain Bitey currently does either green or brown poos depending on how much of his diet is vegetables vs pellets on a given day and that's apparently normal. Or bright orange that one time he gorged himself on sweet potato and had a bit of a spew. His sweet potato is more strictly rationed now.

I don't really bother looking at their poo for anything-what's the point when every one is different depending on what they've eaten? Bright red pepper shits, gigantic purple blueberry shits, paste-like "just sat and ate some pellets" shits, watery "I just drank my body weight in warm water out of the tap" shits...

On that note, though, I'd love to see some other cage setups from you guys, too.

I haven't rearranged the cages properly in ages ugh. I don't usually bother moving the perches around, unless a more efficient/space using way is found or they keep making GBS threads on the current set up, but the toys get changed and rotated around.

How to cock it up, Fig. I

Do green cheeks sometimes stay mad longer than a day or so? I had a busy weekend where I wasn't in as much and Sammy has been extra cranky with me. I'm hoping a good solid evening of scritches and some strawberries will earn forgiveness.

In other news, I may be adopting a Nanday conure! Friend of a friend has one (named Kiwi) that she can't take care of anymore cause she's a marine biology person and will be in the Bahamas and all over for a grad program. Kiwi sounds sweet and I'm hoping they get along or can at least tolerate each other.

Yeah, but isn't necessarily because I ignore her for a couple days so much as she randomly gets in moods. She will also sort of vacillate between liking me or my boyfriend best. Try not to take it too personally. A solid evening of scritches and strawberries is definitely called for anyway, just because.

I may go and see him before he gets shipped off to his conservation island home again.

Today I learned that they had to put him on a smaller island away from people because since he almost exclusively wants to mate with humans, during mating season he kept making fancy dances at the rangers and not at the lady kakapo.
