You know the purpose of pretty much all anime is to sell merchandise and manga and poo poo, right? Hell, it's where most of the profit comes from. That's why they all have sponsors bankrolling their shows.

There's a PV for the Applimonsters game now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WenTtyzo164 The game seems to be a four-vs-four, but who cares, it'll never leave Japan. The important thing is what it shows for the anime, namely, a DigiXros-like mechanic known as "App Gattai" (App Fusion). Furthermore, the four Digimon shown in the tweet earlier are now named: Gashimon (note: I am not sure on this one), Navimon, Dokamon and Musimon. The App Gattai between Gashimon and Navimon is named DoGashimon, and looks really cool. I also like the super deformed Beelzebumon-like Digimon leading the enemy team. I wish we got info on it. EDIT: there's another video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEcbj4NkNwo It shows a lot of stuff, and now I'm a lot more interested in Appmons. And in a subtitled version, if possible. Also I was wrong, it isn't Gashimon, it's Gatchmon (fittingly for the app series, since it probably comes from gashapon or gacha, which seems to be common in these kind of games). I gotta say that making them so directly based on specific apps is probably a bad idea. It limits the designs anr makes it way too "topical" and even more easily dated. If these things really are different than Digimon, I wonder how they can use the old characters.

What's funny is that I began suspecting that Meicrackmon was the actual Ultimate/Perfect Level form as the form shown at the end of Determination was a little too simplistic a transition to be the actual next Level. The only one that can even compare are Gotsumon -> Icemon -> Meteormon and Data Squad already mocked that:  And yes I'm technically cheating by using a gif from Savers but the dub had fun with this as well. Anyway, good to see that I was right about that form just being Meicoomon mid-Digivolution to Meicrackmon.

Meic Rackmon According to With the Will, Meicoomon in Next 0rder is indeed the same one as Tri's and the Meicrackmon DLC actually has some spoilers about tri. At the end of the DLC Meicrackmon reveals that when she returned to her world, was unable to reunite with her partner, because Meiko was trapped by an organization known as "White Fang". The organization trapped Meicrackmon, sealed her true powers and forced her to spread the virus, and when Meicrackmon was able to regain her consciousness and tried to oppose "White Fang", they banish her from her world with a special program they have, that allow them to travel between the parallel worlds. She said that is like the -next 0rder- world has "chosen" her, as it was a coincidence she have returned to that world to be saved again by Shiki. She thanks Shiki and the others and say she is going to return to her homeworld, and this time she will save Meiko and defeat "White Fang". The guys want to help her rescue Meiko, but Meicrackmon says they cannot go with her to her world, since the only way Meicrackmon is able to return in the first place is trough the feelings that connect her to Meiko, and disappear.

I'm at a convention attending a panel with Robert Axelrod. Turns out his original audition for Armadillomon was the most  thing he'd ever done in his life and he was shocked he got the role. On the other hand, his earlier role of Wizardmon was handed to him specifically for his vocal range

I can't imagine how much punch his death would have lost if it were any but Axelrod giving him that gentle, almost fragile voice in Adventure.My favorite Robert Axelrod story however was from a video I saw of him at a Power Rangers con a few years back. He said he had a hell of a time trying to voice Lord Zedd because the suit actor they cast for Zedd was a little bit of a drunk and tended to overact physically, so he had to spit out his dialog like he was voicing Speedy Gonzales just to keep up with him some times.

There was rumors during the peak of PR's popularity (which also coincided with Zedd as a regular character) that the studio was bailing Axelrod out of jail for [insert charge involving controlled/intoxicating substances]. It was something somebody said in IRC, maybe as a joke, but I remember who said and it was someone who probably would know. TV gossip in the mid-90s period of the internet where many of today's credible sources didn't have an online presence was weird. Imagine a world where kids growing up around Los Angeles seem to always have all the inside info. It was basically "my uncle who works at Nintendo" style stuff, except with pictures of the sets and actors backstage as evidence. To be kind of fair to Ed O'Neil, the Zedd suit must have been hell to work in. I would not blame the guy for getting drunk a bit to cope. Still a dick move to not play ball with the voice actor, but it speaks to Axelrod's talent that the dude not only salvaged it, but made it one of the best kids villains ever.

Maybe because as a kid I was used to Star Wars, but it never occurred to me how difficult it can be to deliver lines to fit with somebody's spastic motions. There's... A whole thread for that kind of discussion, though I never go there. I haven't been able to enjoy toku shows, original recipe or with anglo seasoning, for about twelve years now. It is kind of funny though that you can't put three adult US Digimon fans (or retired fans, or whatever) in a room without at least one of them knowing who White_Tiger and MAXMOUZE were. Small community.
