I was a little disappointed that while discussing the name changes from the JP to US version that they didn't mention Balrog was originally M. Bison (Mike Tyson). I don't know why, but I guess I just wanted to hear their reaction to that particular revelation because it would be exaggerated and hilarious.

I was just astounded that Jupin hates Amadeus. What the hell? Also, Agents of Shield is good, someone strap Stephen to that chair.

Their brief mention of Conan makes me really want to hear a We Love Movies on Conan the Barbarian. It's a great movie but it would make great fodder for their barrage of impressions/derails/unpacking of absurd scenes. I like telling Australians that Nick Cave is better-known in Australia than Kylie. Indie/alternative cred travels better than pop fame. Or maybe me and my friends were just too gothy. Kylie was also in Doctor Who, for some reason (probably a meta-joke about Billie Piper starting out as a Kylie wannabe). Cave's also been in way better movies.

It's true, though, at least when I was growing up. Cave was on the Scream and X-Files soundtracks, plus he got tons of press and big displays in the bookstores every time he released an album. Men wanted him, men wanted to be him. Kylie was in the Street Fighter movie. The guys should do City of Angels, the Nick Cage remake of a Nick Cave movie. Can't Get You Out of My Head and Love At First Sight were hits in the US. She never really got to where she was in other parts of the world but she was big. She was pop soccer. She was Absinthe in Moulin Rouge too, right?

I'm no big fan, but she had a huge streak of hits, 'Spinning Around', 'On A Night Like This', 'Can't get you out of my head' etc. I guess it's a weird regional thing. So, Streetfighter. This ep seemed to go pretty qucikly, but I was surprised they disliked it so much considering their taste for MK. I wonder if they'll cover Dead Or Alive, starring a bunch of nobodies, including another Australian pop/soap star - Holly Valance. It's really bad. It gets thrown around a lot, but it is one of the few movies I've seen that features honest-to-goodness porno level acting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZCoTTV40qM I think the entire thing is on youtube. well why not fucked around with this message at 09:10 on Jun 22, 2016 |

My realization that movies can be bad came from watching the Tekken anime. It's weird - I don't share many reference points with the bad movie podcasts. WHM and The Flop House will spend 10 minutes joking about some TV star I've never heard of but ignore obvious videogame references. But most gaming media is so bad I'll still stick with bad movie podcasts, at least until somebody invents a good bad game podcast. well why not posted:I wonder if they'll cover Dead Or Alive, starring a bunch of nobodies, including another Australian pop/soap star - Holly Valance. I barely remember the one you linked but from what I remember it's mostly random fights once they make it to the island, which is about all I want in my dumb fighting game adaptation. Also Cory Yuen is pretty reliable when it comes to directing ridiculous action and the cast is mostly hot ladies. I'm not ever gonna rewatch any of these but I remember liking it about on par with MK and more than Street Fighter. Would be neat to see them complete the trilogy of 90s beat 'em up franchises though. fatherboxx posted:Amadeus is bad but watching Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls thirty times is completely normal Terminator 2 is an example of something I'll rewatch every few years but about half my total viewings come from one week where me and my siblings were on holiday at my aunt's place and it rained a lot. DoA was a fun movie, it's just a bunch of people having kickpunch fights on a tropical island which is the one thing people always say they want from a fighting game adaptation. It's like Mortal Kombat only instead of 90s CGI it has bikini carwash movie antics.TetsuoTW posted:Here you go then. Enjoy. They are hysterically funny when they get going on Abject Suffering, but I do occasionally run into a road block when they find a cultural artifact they, personally, have no connection to, and talk about it with this vaguely infuriating shortsightedness where they're unwilling to engage with it in its own terms and anything that wasn't part of their childhood might as well not exist. And then they talk about Crick 2000 or Buffo, the World's Strongest Clown, and all is right with the world again.
