It's the little details like the back and forth with HR that make me believe it.

I don't think that we have ever once actually done diversity training like she's talking about. There are two threads on Freep right now about Tim Kaine's statement that the Catholic Church might change their minds on gay marriage in the future. Yeah, white supremacist notions of "white people," have magically updated as different groups have assimilated into the US over the generations. Pretty soon they're going to start claiming Hispanic Whites as true whites. The only reason they don't right now stems from the anti-Catholic, anti-Italian, anti-Irish bigotry of generations ago. The group of people the KKK was started to protect stopped existing in any real way a long time ago, but that hasn't stopped racists from crafting exclusionary groups in order to persecute people they feel funny about.

After Hillary clinched the nomination at the DNC, I saw a post being shared on Facebook. It was a woman saying (and I'm paraphrasing horribly here), "I notice a lot of men complaining that they don't like the focus on women's issues and the shattered glass ceiling imagery. They think it's pandering, and they are angry that they were not considered a part of what was going on, that they felt left out. I think it's about time that they know what that feels like." Power is slipping away from the old white men of America, and they and their allies are terrified of the inevitable change. Edit: Found the comment, if I wasn't on my phone I'd take a hack at finding the Tweet: quote:Someone on Twitter last night was all "maybe Hillary breaking the faces of every president in history is an optic that could have used a focus group." And I was like "Oh, I'm sorry, are you not used to mainstream things being done to cater to the ladies? GET USED TO IT." Beef Hardcheese fucked around with this message at 13:54 on Sep 13, 2016 |
