This house is extravagantly bland. Also, master bathrooms in big houses usually have a separate toilet room. Look, I like baths, and I would like to have a nice bathroom. My current bathroom is 8x13. It's got plenty of space for storage and two sinks, a toilet and a bath. I spend, what, half an hour in there a day? Maybe forty-five minutes on a bad hair day? Why do I need a palace?

Personally I'd rather see the bathroom broken up if it's going to take that much space. Maybe have a hub with the sinks and mirrors, and then little rooms that have the toilet, the shower, and the tub. That way someone can have a nice long soak in the tub without blocking access to the toilet for an hour.

Having the toilet in a closet type space off the actual bathroom is pretty awesome if, like a sane person, you don't want to cross the line of full frontal making GBS threads exposition with your partner. Otherwise, if that's your bag, just nut up and embrace your fetish already.

My friend put down some sort of fairly thick rubber product that looks like wood but feels nice to walk on and apparently it's super durable. It was a bit pricey, I think it came out more expensive than wood, but if I was ever building or gutting a house I'd probably put something like that down, at least in the most used rooms.

Bought a new construction house in July; spent some time last night relabeling the breaker panel. Highlights include: The three spellings of "kitchen" on the original panel ("kitchien", "kithen", and "kithien"), all of which are incorrect, the two remaining mystery breakers (one of which was labeled "range", when in fact the stove/range is controlled by the breaker originally labeled "microwave"), "SePTiK", and the fact that not a single one of the left hand side breakers was labeled correctly, with the arguable exception that one of the three "bedroom" labels turned out to control the lights in the master bedroom and laundry room.

Sounds like vinyl planks. They're pretty durable and inexpensive. The only real issues I've heard is they're thinner than laminate and hardwood and any sections with sun exposure tend to bleach out over time.

City electrics workers here in Vancouver's downtown east side have to wear puncture proof gloves when they open panels on streetlights and poo poo like that because they are invariably filled to the loving brim with spikes.
