I got 2 of those huge 1lb bags for like $10.99 each or something ridiculous. One thing though, it's recommended to put it in the fridge if you don't eat it all within 3 days. Being goons that shouldn't be a problem, but I live alone and a pound of meat is a lot for me.

They have a lot of good protein supplements. The shakes are great if you're lazy.

Had a near panic attack today because they moved my hands-down favorite Costco item, Stonemill Potato Salad (an absolute steal at $5 CAD for a massive tub) from the salad section to a different refrigerated section. I think this is a Canadian product but if any Canadian goons here like potato salad , give this a try.

I have never had a Costco membership before, because my family didn't when I was growing up, and then I didn't have a car for a long time. But now I have a car, and I live one mile from a Costco, and I have seen the light. Please gentlemen, tell me the Good News, for I wish to join your ranks.

I went after work tonight and got chicken breasts, Whisps parmesan crisps (perfect crispy, salty, 100% parmesan cheese crackers with zero carbs), a case of sugar-free Red Bull for my wife, and filled up the car for $2.08 per gallon. No dogs for me, since I still have several of the Kirkland 1/4 pounder dogs in the freezer at home, and two cans of Silver Floss kraut to try FogHelmut's recipe next time. My heart sank because there were almost 20 idiots lined up for the last remaining checkout line, but absolutely nobody in the self-checkout line. I breezed right through like a pro. PBUC.

Toilet Shoes posted:Still get checked at the door? Yeah, they still check, so I make sure to bring my own bags and keep my receipt in hand. We have three self-checkout lanes to the right of all the regular lanes. Usually I get there around 8:10 after leaving work, and they close at 8:30. The store is rarely crowded at that time, but everyone lines up in the one open lane, usually ignoring the self-checkout lanes completely.

Chinatown posted:wait Costco has some stores with self-checkout now? I need it. I think there are only a couple left, they got rid of them because people weren't spending enough money when they used them. I loved it because I could buy a case of beer and be out of there in 3 minutes, but Costco leadership decided that it encouraged people to spend less money. Which is true, but I also went far more often and bought things I would have instead gone to the grocery store for.

Which is true, but I also went far more often and bought things I would have instead gone to the grocery store for. I can see that, but costcos are almost always so busy and need to be mentally prepared for a poo poo show such that if I'm going to go, I'm loading up on $100+ of food so I don't have to come back for a few weeks. If they were as easy as just going to the grocery store like Safeway, hgell yeah I'd just go and get a few items more often. even with door checkers, I could see more shrink having self-checkouts too. i've never seen a self-checkout at costco tho

Costco tries to minimize expenses with an incredible supply chain and an entire warehouse/store full of impulse buys and consumer necessities. An express version of Costco that was automated and targeted would be one of the best things to ever happen. Quality milk, bread, and eggs on demand and real craft beer and a huge bottle of Kirkland Rum? Sign me up! But they control costs via their gigantic warehouse stores. Something will eventually need to change with their distribution model as Amazon and Walmart are hot on their heels. A mix between Trader Joe's and Costco or a partnership - they might be able to rule the world.
