I used to lament that MTV didn't play videos, but then I eventually realized my favorite shows were Beavis and Butthead, Daria, and Liquid Television. Although I suppose Beavis and Butthead was sort of videos. I loved the video segments.

Yeah, right now in terms of major sports, there's MLS soccer (which doesn't have much of a following) and MLB (which is very much a marathon in terms of seasons). Also Canadian Football if that's your thing. Tour de France is over, two of the three major racing series are on break (F1 and IndyCar, not to mention that's Jalopnik's bag), US Football is just starting with NFL camps, and NHL and NBA are still a good ways away.

It's a very cool read. They've done a few other "story behind the photo of" for things like the Munich olympic terrorists, Brandi Chastain's sportsbra shot, the Bobby Orr goal photo, and that phenomenal Mary Decker picture.
