Starting to think of only buying new sets. Seems that almost all the time 100% means a few missing parts or other problems.

Went to the shops to see if Big W had any LEGO I wanted and also to buy food, and Big W did not have the LEGO Ninjago Movie sets that I particularly liked, so boo. On a not really related note I saw a young girl with Batman LEGO and I was like "Yes. Good. This is good."

Considering $149.99 is currently £115, we're losing £25 on that! £139.99 is after tax though right, that's the retail price? whereas US prices don't include any local taxes because they vary by state. £115 +20% is £138, so it's pretty much at parity with the current exchange rates. VAT is a big ol' chunk of change.

I'd still buy it in the US. Even the most expensive sales tax there only runs roughly 10%.

Does someone who is smarter than I am have any ideas how to modify the minifig display that comes with the helicarrier to add two characters? I want to add Banner and Thor standing (I'm going to get some more of those trans clear sticks and put Iron Man on one of them). I'm having trouble figuring out what a good piece to put in between the two 87615s that make up the bulk of the base would be.

I just stuck the pieces into LDD, and it looks like the bog-standard 2x2x1 slope brick matches the angle. Of course, those have the grainy surface texture while the 87615s are smooth and glossy, but I'm not even sure they make normal 45 degree slopes with glossy surfaces. Only thing I can seem to find that's glossy and 1 brick tall is the 3x6x1 windscreen, but that's a different angle (which could work), but may not be available in the right color. Everything else that's glossy and sloped seems to be a windscreen or bow, not something you can generally use to extend a slope's width.

I know this isn't a ton of help but I'm almost positive Lego makes an extender piece, if this is the part you are talking about. https://www.google.com/search?q=leg...iw=1440&bih=776 I think I have one, but it's in a built set somewhere. I'll look for it to see what the part# is.

I’ll try some 45 degree slope pieces, it just didn’t look like they’d match the angle to me. I’m ok with the rough texture. Edit: of course they do! Dogen fucked around with this message at 18:46 on Aug 12, 2017 |

The way off the highway WalMart had moved all the discounted sets to their clearance racks up front. Spent 4 hours last night building the Ultimate Batmobile, and I think it has supplanted Benny's SPACESHIP as the most fun set I've built. Saturn V still holds a special plus but that was 100% for display. After I reenacted launch, staging and TLI while watching Apollo 13 anyways.

No point to this post at all... just funny having cold feet. I's not even about the money. Part of it may be a lack of display space.

Hooray for market research. I will have some extra funds at the end of the month. Definitely getting NinJago City. Bank, Parasien Restaurant, or Detective office? I have Theater and Assembly Square waiting in the wings already and think 4 modulars will be good for the space I have for them. Until Fishing Store comes out. Mrs Mango is gonna be pissed but the kid loves them!

Those three are all pretty good. I would probably go with the Parisian restaurant, it has a lot of internal diversity, and a really beautiful exterior. The bank is dense and well-designed, probably my favourite corner-building. The detective office is actually a pair of buildings, with a lot going on in limited space (my preferred kind of modular) and a really nice contrast between the two halves, but it's a lot grungier than the others. They're all worth getting, and if you plan to do that the restaurant is the oldest, but if not, then that's my order of preference.

Ultimate Mango posted:Hooray for market research. I will have some extra funds at the end of the month. Definitely getting NinJago City. I like all 3. Parisian is the most popular but I liked it the least of the 3. Bank is a bit plain looking on the outside but the inside shows the maturity of the series. Detective is my fav of the 3. I think every aspect of it is interesting. However, Parisian is the oldest and most likely to retire soon. Get them in age order to be safe. Get all 3.
