I'm not a super intense horror fan, but the thing those blood posters makes me realize is how often horror involves filth---grubby basements, unwashed wardrobe choices, survivors who can really use a shower afterwards...

...that one Stephen King short story about the guy trapped in a portable toilet...

But with those posters, outfits, photos, etc being as clean and crisp as they are while still being unsettling, I wonder how often do you get horror movies where the overall aesthetic is one of sterility instead of grime?

I like how none of those Saw posters use any of the iconography of the franchise and could be anything.

My coffee warned me about it.

They hosed those Jigsaw posters up because they're lit in a way that makes both the costumes and the environment reveal their inauthenticity. You can see in painstaking detail how unevenly those cubes in the background were glued together or what parts were cut out of cardboard. It makes me think about how the production design team was cutting the materials instead of what the movie is about - it's breaking the 4th wall in a way that doesn't seem to have been intended. Light your photoshoot appropriately to the quality of the designs or don't go for a sleek white look if you don't have the budget to pull it off. I like the comparison to Barney's Cremaster because you can look up his work and see how it's supposed to be done.

They actually are promotion for a real life blood drive that is also a protest again gay men not being allowed to donate blood, which might explain why they are emphasizing cleanliness and sterility and not using iconography from the film's despite being a promotion for Jigsaw.

Yeah, the positioning is very unfortunate and ill-advised, but that's just a feature of the robot's chest behind them.
