I think there were a few funny jokes, but besides the more meta humor, most of the humor that hit this ep was just "OMG a reference!!!!" Which admittedly isn't a high bar when it comes to comedy, and not everyone will enjoy. Also it obviously becomes stale the second time seeing them, which...yeah. The show could definitely use a few improvements, especially with regards to comedic timing, but we'll just have to wait and see how the next few episodes play out. I could very much see this show being a "one and done" comedy in the long run, with little rewatchability in comparison to other comedies like nichijou.

With all that said though, I wholeheartedly appreciate that this show is kinda doing its own thing and is just a shitpost in animated form, and as such I admire it for being art.

God loving drat this episode was so good. I burst out laughing at the sudden Your Name parody coming out of nowhere, was easily my favorite part of the episode. I was legitimately confused by the opening, thought I'd downloaded the wrong anime or that the uploaders were trolling me. God bless. Anime is good.

Well that was wonderful. bkub is a treasure, although I've only really seen/read the touhou comics and the classics like youtube crimes would definitely play pipimon and popuko trigger also I will always appreciate a totoro reference
