I tried to go to a three day a week push/pull/legs but three days a week didn't satisfy me, so I went to push/legs/pull/legs and god drat, dividends after less than two weeks. First legs is low rep sets on the leg press, high rep on the machine leg press, low rep leg curls, high rep light leg extensions and the second is low rep squats, low rep leg press, high rep leg curl and high rep glutes with some calf stuff on both days. Fuckin did squats today, added my usual five pounds for my first set of five, that felt real good, let's add five more. gently caress that still felt really good, let's add five more cause gently caress it. Last rep was as tough as I could have anticipated it being but I got it and form didn't break down. Gotta find somewhere to add SLDLs (I know they aren't deadlift deadlifts but I much prefer them), thinking right now I'll put them between the leg presses on day one to space them out from squats.

You'd think if you lose 10 lbs you'd be able to squat 10 more lbs. Stupid weak body.

how do you guys feel about arnold for an intermediate lifter. seems like a lot of volume but i'm going to a gym with a roided partner

When you say Arnold do you mean chest/back, shoulders/arms, legs? If so I've found the chest/back day to be really tough to hit hard with heavy compound movements. I'm sure if you were roiding and working out twice a day it'd be great.

That's the split I do. Chest/back day is my favorite. Start the day focusing on either heavy deadlifts or bench, and then superset the rest of the workout. idk if it's good but it works for me, though I do find shoulders/arms days boring once I'm done with ohp.

Dolphin posted:Yes, that split. Should I shift back exercise to another day? Try both who knows what will work best for you. It depends where you're at in your lifting career but I've found chest/bi, back/tri, shoulders/legs to be the most versatile. I am not particularly talented or strong but that's what has worked best for me and my weak points.

They're called "women". Men either don't squat at all or very quickly get stronger than that

Yeah not sure why you'd want to go around trying to intimidate women with your "sick" OHP.

I injured my ribs (or intercostals, not quite sure) so I'm taking it easy, mainly focusing on chest, arms and shoulders with some leg isolation, because compounds and pulling movements are still aggravating them. It's always one step forwards, two steps back. I blame being on the one rep from failure week and overestimating when failure was. feelix posted:The only correct answer, for all time and space, is Twilight of the Thunder God Yes. Every time I unrack the bar, I'm terrified that there's gonna be too much weight on one side and the bar will flip, this has never ever happened because I'm a weakling. But, does anyone know roughly how much weight would have to be on one side of a 20kg bar for it to flip?

Depends on the width of what's supporting it. At normal rack width it's between 2 and 3 plates. You'd feel the difference when you started to lift it off the rack and would have plenty of time to set it down before it would flip over.

I once very stupidly took all the weight off on one side and the barbell tried to escape off the rack.

My rule of thumb is to not have one side with more than 45 pounds more than the other side. Also, it makes it fairly efficient to just start with taking a 45 (or all the smaller-than-45 plates) off one side, then you can take two 45s off each side as you take the rest off. (And really, carrying more than two 45s at a time is generally a bad idea.)
