TheScott2K posted:Seriously how did Watership Down get made It's a really good movie, and I really don't get why people kick up a huge fuss about it every time it's mentioned other than the awful marketing. Like seriously, the marketing is the only "bad" thing about that movie because it shows it as a toddler's movie and it's absolutely not. But any kid over like 7 would be fine watching it.

I know there's a few other Australians floating around in the thread, so I figured I'd post this Amazon AU hack: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/377533 Managed to swing the Nightmare on Elm Street boxset, the Rocky boxset, Scorsese's 3 hour George Harrison doco, and ozploitation classic Long Weekend (so 15 movies) for $45AU. There's also a shitload of UHD stuff in there, and someone on the Ozbargain site managed to get Nolan's 4K filmography for $39 total.

Heads up, Vinegar Syndrome are having their Midway to Black Friday sale (50% almost everything) going from May 25-28 including two mystery blu rays. One of them they say will not get a second run after it’s initial 1,500 piece first run. They said it won’t be a horror film, so if you like weird porn on BR this is your reminder.

Hi thread, can anyone recommend a 4k player suitable for parents? So a nice simple UI that isn't going to stop supporting apps in 3 months. Do any players use android or is that a stupid question? They've got a hundred crappy devices that collectively do everything, but poorly. Trying to find an all in one for them. Thanks!

My parents bought a 65" M-series Vizio ... and still have the **DVD** HTIAB surround unit I bought them over a decade ago. At least they have streaming apps.

Criterion titles for August Ernst Lubitsch's Heaven Can Wait (1943) Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life (2011) Tomás Gutiérrez Alea's Memories of Underdevelopment (1968) Susan Seidelman's Smithereens (1982) Robert M. Young's The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez (1982) Nothing too exciting for me, but Smithereens sounds like something I might like.

While I'm sure it'll just be off of some master they have lying around, it would be kinda cool to see pure CGI movies get rendered out with what the artists would have liked to have done if they had the computing horsepower. If I remember correctly, they had a lot of trouble rendering wet hair the first time around.
