Oh yeah. The turn in thing that it plays through is painfully slow. Again, it makes no sense and games have allowed you to turn in quests for ages without being this pointlessly slow but this is NMS and everything is slow and tedious, even clicking a button.

Kind of fixed it actually, apparently the game can't do vsync properly so I forced it on with the nvidia thingy and now it works OK.

Still seems to have trouble holding a stable framerate though.

Oh yeah, I forgot that was a thing, but apparently ingame vsync is bugged for people or something. Turning it off definitely made it run smoother for me. And no tearing anyway so not even needed.

This game is remarkable. I'm actually quite enjoying it, and have definitely been sucked into the basic gameplay loop. But literally every single system by itself, is awful. In fact, so many "pieces" of the game, are offensively bad.

It's one of those games that I'll never argue with anyone that doesn't like it.

Hm, I remember back when they first added base-building (it was far more limited than it is now) but it was a lot easier to get a vehicle technician then, did they move him up the questline for the main base?

Ugh, the mission "Alone Amidst the Stars" seems to have bugged out for me, and it isn't letting me use the third signal booster to triangulate my position. I've tried restarting the game and reloading the save and stuff but no luck, I don't want to start my whole game over from the beginning. I've been playing for like 14 hours or something.

I disconnect from the internet for a second or two, and when I go back to the game, I think it realizes it completely lost connection and tries to re-establish. Then it connects to the online discovery server again.

This is a big patch from a rather unreliable developer, copy your saves before starting it for the first time. Just in case (they've broken saves before).

Hmm, maybe this patch broke my progress in this quest. I had placed the third signal beacon and used it, but not gone anywhere from there. It seems to still think I need to use it but I don't get a triangulate option on the booster.

This game has it's hooks in me deep. I'm leaving on vacation today and really wish I could take my PS4. It's one of those games I fall asleep thinking about and wake up thinking about. :)

It would be amazing if I could manage frigates with a mobile app or something.

Speaking of PS4, how is the jump in performance on the Pro model? I've been considering an upgrade for awhile and if NMS performs better on the Pro that may push me over the edge.

If you don’t have 4K then it’s good, if you do you’ll want to turn it down to 1080 for this particular game

And definitely turn framerate cap on

It's not uncommon to find planets with Pure Ferrite as a mineral in rocks. You will need an advanced mining laser to mine it, though.

Looks like the jetpack dash was nerfed with this patch, it has a more upward trajectory now. It's bad enough I've decided to carry the stuff for an exocraft pad around with me now so I guess they succeeded there.

Doors got deleted off of at least one of my bases, and one of my planets reverted back to an old name. Though to be fair, this was in my starter system in my old save, which I had largely renamed already, but was regenerated with the updates and lost all of its names. Well most of those names came back it seems. :stare: Unfortunately the planet data on the discovery also came back I guess because they have the wrong info now. On the planets themselves though, they have the right name.

One of my underground bases re-filled with rock despite the rooms and equipment all still being there. Since you can't use the terrain tool while inside a base, I'd have remove and re-add everything to put it back together again. At least that only happened at one of my bases.

If you find yourself in a different galaxy, can you still teleport back to your old bases or are you cut off forever?

Awake and unreal, off to nowhere
I unlocked and built the 3-way refiner. Is there a decent recipe list anywhere out there?

I thought the patch deleted my starter ship. I built a base and summoned a broken ship there. Fortunately I had it in flying condition but it only had like 7 cargo slots free. When I went to play today my starter ship was gone and I only have the option to summon the mostly broken ship. Eventually figured out my starter ship got teleported to my freighter.

Repaired my frigate, but it still said it was damaged. Thought maybe it was bugged, sent it out anyways and it was destroyed within 5 minutes. Definitely think I'm just ignoring that stuff from now on unfortunately. I thought I was also following the reddit guides suggestion of sending it out on a 2 star mission when my ship was 3 stars where they claim it's safe and it still got hosed up.

New mini-game - figure out where you have to stand and what pixel you have to point your cursor at to get the Weapon Console interact button to actually show up and NO COME BACK NGGG I had it, I had it... there it is! No it's gone.... gently caress! I just... ok ok... down a bit, wait a bit... oh, it's lovely. gently caress. Oh well.

As for Fleet expeditions I think more ships seem to help. I had 1 and it never made it alive anywhere, now I have 5 and they mostly seem to cope okay doing 2 stars & 3 for things they are rated highly for until they level up helps. Possibly those upgrades you can send out on one mission though I've never had the materials to make any of them. So far only 1 mission had a ship damaged after sending 5 each time. I have 1 combat, 1 support and the rest are 'industrial' I think. Just bought whatever I came across tbh. I could be wrong.

They lied... they lied about the base computer bug fix - it's still broken. It tells me my active base is a spot a minute away from an abandoned space station in a warzone.

I tried the various freighter summon, teleport, save, reload poo poo that's supposed to unclog it too but nothing works. I'm still stuck.

On top of that, the Artemis quest 16/16 is broken for me too. A quick search shows it's been broken for a lot of folk since 1.3 but w/e I suppose. You walk through a portal, finally about to get some answers and it spawns me in space just underneath my ship where you quickly drop "down" and die. I tried a few different ships in case it was the weird design but same thing each time.

On the one postive side though I finally got hold of a 24 slot S class multitool. I wasn't even looking for one, I was warping around trying to get a handle on these bugs.
