Thank you, I had actually always wondered what the purpose of those tags was but never looked it up. They really never made a lot of sense to me but I just stopped thinking about it almost immediately.

I remember watching Pee-Wee's Big Adventure when I was a dumb kid and he meets an escaped convict who says ripping off the mattress tag was his crime.
