I think the real high level problem is that the argument very quickly reduces to "People should stop reading books about orcs and swords and stuff." While this is an extremely valid and defensible position, taking it seriously would mean closing a bunch of threads on this already poorly trafficked subforum. It's like barging into a manga forum and pointing out that the art sucks. Like everyone's going to be like, "Oh poo poo man you're right! Let's all go to the Met!"

I mean, the simple solution is to just ignore his posts, or say 'yeah, you're right it's not a masterpiece or anything, but I enjoy it' then move on. but man-children who worship their favorite authors as infallible gods can not stand for the slightest criticism and implode. I don't think that's anyone's fault but theirs.
