What are some good escapes from side control? My only classes covering it thus far were my literal first week training, so I don't remember anything.

Well first you grab the lion and... Oh wait, you were talking about versus people. I put pressure on the chin and neck and make space to bring in a knee

I would easily defeat the mountain lion as I outweigh it by like a hundred pounds and am trained in combat arts the animal is unlikely to be familiar with. my main concern are the uuh various knives equipped on the creature's mouth, hands, feet

When my cats play fight (which is all the time) they go absolutely porrada and tackle each other off tables and into walls and poo poo. Would not want to fight a big cat

When I lock the cats out of my bedroom at night, it sounds like there is an intruder in my house, at all hours, breaking poo poo

All I can think about right now is Joe Rogan telling Kevin Smith that he thinks he could handle a housecat but that anything 40lbs or up would gently caress him up.

If you do the cross ankle reversal when someone has your back but you trap their one ankle and use your own leg as the pivot rather than their other ankle does that count as a toe hold in the rules? Kind of like the ankle lock reversal but instead of pressing down on the foot you manage to torque the foot to the side Sorry if that makes no sense, I will try and find a pic. Does anyone have the best gi based video for white belts to get out of side control that they like? I need it because once I'm there I'm stuck, and also because I want to learn how all these people keep getting out of my side control. Also very much enjoyed rolling with fellow gi white belts who are starting after me, made me feel a lot better about myself. Was able to Kimura someone from guard.

willie_dee posted:Does anyone have the best gi based video for white belts to get out of side control that they like? 99% the problem isn't that you're not using the right move, it's that you're letting your shoulders get flattened out in the first place. Lots of white belts give up side control and go "oh I guess this is my life now" and just accept it for like 5-6 seconds and get flattened out and give up the crossface, and then go "HELP I CAN'T GET OUT OF SIDE CONTROL NONE OF THE ESCAPES WORK I'VE WATCHED LOTS OF VIDEOS AND THEY DONT WORK" Don't stop fighting the position, ever. That's the actual key. Fight every inch. Keep shrimping away and framing against the shoulder that's coming in to cross face you. Everything else is just variations on pummelling the the hands to the inside to create frames, shrimping, bridging, and trapping.
