Oh boy, posting!
That's where I'm a Viking!

So I had my merit/bonus conversation with my boss and her boss today. 9% raise and a pretty large bonus. Along with "We want you to be around for future stuff, please don't go :qq:"

They scared.

My bosses boss told me they weren't doing this for everyone and blah blah blah. My boss who I'm pretty close with (she's not a company man so I trust her) confirmed later on that they really weren't doing this for everyone and that they are anxious about losing me and a few others. She's not even sure if this new schedule is going to work for her, which was :smith: to hear.

I'm still gonna keep my eyes open for something new but I will absolutely take more money in the meantime. Talked to my dad about it (He's at the director level in his company). His take was that they want me there for the long haul. Though my boss did mention she figured that when a specific project I've voiced a desire to work with before has openings in the future, I'd be one of the first to take a crack at it. I told her that I'd love to work on that product but I'm gonna have to wait and see what happens with the new WFH policy.

They officially announce the new policy and adjustments they've made at the end of this week. From what it sounds like 4:1 is staying and they're just going to be "flexible" with people leaving early and then logging in at home.

Maybe they'll blink again, who loving knows.

Tbh TVs have gotten so much better and much cheaper than they were even 5 years that it's totally worth getting a new set. It's incredible the quality of TV you can buy for sub $1000 today.

Yeah I've been buying Sony TVs for over 20 years now and this is the first time I've had one that broke. All of them have been given away or sold, and no one ever complained about the breaking so I assume they got good service out of them too.

Actually I had one of the first Sony lcd computer monitors. 4:3, and gave it to my sister and apparently just poo poo the bed last year.

Wife just told me that we've got over a thousand bucks in Amazon points and Amex so guess I'm gonna get some of that 4k shiiiiiiiit

I'd buy another Sony but this LG was so cheap and they have decent lifespans. I don't want smart tv bullshit either, I have the xbone for that poo poo.

Won't forget the last trinitron I bought. It was 21" and could give people hernias. Got it on my iraq deployment, liked it so much I shoved it in the tool truck to bring it home. Sold it on a garage sale before leaving Memphis, still worked. It was a european market tv but worked fine stateside with the proper plug adapter.

I've got a 57" rear projection I bought on clearance at Best Buy in 2005. It still works, though I don't use it. After the move, I think it's gonna be my back porch tv.

Fun story: I thought it was dying after about 5 years because the video would get hosed and fade to black. I did absolutely zero troubleshooting, and ordered a 60" flat panel from Dell. It had the same problem...uh oh. Yeah, my loving Xbox 360 was dying, and started giving RROD like a loving week later. Sent that in for replacement, enjoyed the new tv and wheeled the old one into the bedroom. That "new" tv is now actually dying. There are probably about 150 stuck white pixels, and hundreds of stuck black ones (which are far less obvious most of the time). Old one's still good, but massive.

Really good for world building too but you could watch this one as a good intro. Gonna let my daughter see it when it comes out on video.

It was a big adjustment for me to take sick time period, but also a bigger one to be taking sick time to be considerate of others.

Back in like, early 2015 I got some kind of mega plague, but still showed up. My coworker who is a loud, sarcastic old fat man from Jersey told me to go home. I said I could work through it. He immediately looked at me and said "hey rear end in a top hat, I'm not sick right now, and I've got grandkids. You get me sick, then either I can't see them or they get sick. I'll kick your fuckin' rear end, go home" so I took the hint and went home.

Just white collar things.

The sick thing has always been a golden rule type thing for me.

I'd like people to be considerate to me if/when I get sick. So I'm considerate whenever someone is sick.

As in "You just stay home and get better."

I'd say it was "dumping" snow for the past hour, but that implies that it was falling towards the ground instead of blasting across the landscape on a path parallel to the ground

Work cut us loose early, absolute white out for half the drive home. Winds peaking out near 100mph at the airport, conveniently near my work.

The side of my car that was facing north is pretty much a sheet of icy snow.
