Just got this book and am reading it: I like the cut of the author's jib (and it's only about a hundred pages long so perfect for my broken, podcast-addled brain). I've been used to thinking that no one ever changes their mind because of arguments but I think the author has a point that as much as it never happens that people change their minds "in the room" as you ANNIHILATE their brainholes, after an incubation period it might make them rethink some things as it simmers in the back of their heads. It's also got some concrete examples of arguments that make no sense, and some excerpts from Shapiro's book on owning the left so you can spot if somebody's read his book and are trying that out on you.

Yeah you're unlikely to convince right wingers or deep-brained D&D style liberals, but people who are just vaguely left/liberal are amenable to socialist ideas a lot of the time. Also libertarians, which might seem counter-intuitive but it's because they simultaneously worship debate and reason but are woefully uninformed about economics and history

Really recommend checking them out if you're starved for theory that isn't 50+ years old. A good place to start is their Youtube channel, their videos are kind of trippy and hard to follow at first since it's made by philosophers but if I can get something out of it I think anyone can.
