Sitting at the hexagon table in the white room, the tile cold against my bare rear end. Wondering what this room is even for

If I had to guess, this is an intentionally uncomfortable staff rest area.

How did they manage to line up that many tiles, in a single room??

It's got to be some kind of combination sauna / basement bar. There's a water fountain, a fridge (I think), and plenty of table space to set down your sweaty glass.

That disorienting room of squares reminded me of a pet peeve: the only thing I approve of in that room is the dark grout. Attempting to keep white grout white requires endless bleaching even in your own home, and public spaces should never have that. I worked as a cleaner for a while and one of the buildings had white grout in the bathroom floors. It mostly only appeared whiteish near the walls and we were forbidden from bleaching it so the uni would have to pay for extra deep cleaning once a year.

It looks like a loving dystopian office space or something. Didn't the 1984 film have white tile like that in the torture room? I know the beta version of Half-Life 2 did, all over the Citadel and I think that was their inspiration. Goddamn that looks uninviting.

This is jogging my memory and it's either a club in Berlin or the training level from System Shock 2. Or both. L-l-l-look at you raver, a pathetic creature of meat and booze, panting and sweating as you gurn through my corridors...how can you challenge me, a perfect immortal DJ?
