Spring Heeled Jack posted:From a spare bedroom we’re working on: Eh, it's non-conductive, and no, it's not upside down. Note the wording stamped on the face. It looks like a 3-way switch, from the absence of "ON" or "OFF" markings, so it's probably wired wrong. Or, you know, is a 3-way switch that could literally go either way.

MRC48B posted:Natural gas flow rates are Not High. Standard water heater wants between 14" max and 5.5" minimum water column pressure. That's about half a psi on the high end. Very much Not High Pressure. However, a gas leak, like a pinhole leak will basically be leaking fire, as the hot gas auto-ignites the second it has enough oxygen to burn. High pressure gas lines are like 300-1500 psi, and are on the exact opposite of the spectrum. 110% find thyself the closest pair of running shoes, and call the cops once you no longer hear the roaring noise the pipe makes when a backhoe finds it.

I'm super glad I work on the other side of the meter. The highest pressure gas I will ever see is Two.

It's hard to see so I may be wrong but it looks like his 'safety harness' is about 75% of the way towards becoming a noose.

Looks like we've got a new entry into the "alternative fuses" board: tamper evident with audio visual alert. And for a contribution, was getting my old boiler/hot water tank combo replaced with a modern combi boiler and said the plumber "I actually don't know where the main stopcock is, according to the docs it's next to the boiler but there's nothing there so I dunno" turns out it was behind the back of a cupboard panel which had a post it note on the back saying "stupid place for a stopcock I know, sorry!".

Doesnt look like theres any cones or other obstacles to prevent people from walking into the danger area without them being aware of the hazards. Also his rope shouldnt be in the path of tree falling to the ground.

Oh that’s why they put that little hole in the breaker switch!
|
# ? Dec 14, 2019 00:30 |

The breakers will trip internally even if the handle is stuck. What the wire does is prevent someone from resetting it without tools, which could be a good idea. The fault should be investigated, not mindlessly overridden.

I like the eco-friendly cellulose brake pads. Inexpensive, good for the environment, and when you have to make a sudden stop you the cloud of smoke and flames act as an additional warning signal to drivers behind you.

I may have been drilling through the hardened steel outer layer of a sheave with a masonry bit without properly clamping it down, and it may have then hit the soft plastic layer beneath and grabbed and flung it into my chest. Fingat fine though so it's all good.
