Just got back from seeing The Turning It's not the worst film of the year (Murder Of Nicole Brown Simpson, by the director of Haunting Of Sharon Tate, exists after all), But it's startlingly close. Holy poo poo. If you missed the rumors from earlier in the week when reviews started to drop: they were completely right. The Turning has no ending. I can now say I've seen a film that just...stopped, like a book that paused mid-sentence on the final page

It's pretty standard if above-average found footage but has some really great ideas with impossible space Holy poo poo, Grave Encounters. I started watching this movie on Showtime in the middle of the afternoon and was getting into it - the concept of eldritch spaces and "ghost hunters" getting screwed with intrigued me. My wife came down about halfway through and asked to watch it from the beginning. We didn't have time since we were running out in an hour to meet friends, so I set it up to tape off Showtime West and headed out. We came back and watched it around 1 AM. The difference between watching it in broad daylight and in a dark basement during the witching hour...it hosed me up HARD, especially the scene with the hands. Anyway, movies I love? House of Wax - the 2005 remake, the practical effects are great and it's got a mean streak that doesn't slide into torture porn. Head of State - Chris Rock does politics and Bernie Mac (RIP) as his VP. Looker - if anyone remembers this 1981 Michael Crichton with Albert Finney, Susan Dey, James Coburn, 3D body scanning, a knock on commercialization, and a gun that gives you amnesia, I'll be drat impressed.

I love both Dr. Phibes movies a lot. They're ridiculous and the plot is a wafer-thin excuse for Vincent Price to kill people in weird ways, but getting to watch him ham it up is just an absolute treat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQvCrg4fZTM "What lovely music... for a murder. Something about AC: Odyssey was still too Ubisofty for me, but that didn’t stop me from investing like 40 hours into the game. It’s good and if you like what it does, it’s terrific.

One of my favorite Kassandra moments is such a small thing. When you visit the arena and you talk to the guy and: Arena Guy: *Spits* So you want to fight? Kassandra: (pauses with disgust) Gross. Her voice actor nailed like every line and gave her so much more personality than Alexios. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBOmid0FkVk Plus she had a passion for it.
