I also work in IT infrastructure. We're solving the security issue by having people log into a virtual desktop client using MFA. They then get published two apps, a web browser and a remote desktop client to get into their workstation. So you don't have people using their home machines to directly log into the RDP and you can set some strict access control on RDP to effectively separate the remote desktop from the home workstation.

Sharp reflexes required, and no cut scenes to reach for a drink during.
