Well, of course I know him.
He's me.
I don’t think I’ve ever waited to build a set unless it was something like a dupe I already had that someone gifted me.

If I'm adding the Razor Crest to my lego cart and no free Death Star set is showing up does that mean they're sold out and I'm SOL if I wanted it? It was automatically added when I looked the other day but didn't order because I didn't have my card details immediately to hand :(

Backlog chat, I had to check and don’t have much. Just the two big Y-Wing & Snowspeeder sets. I’ve been toying around combining Ironman Malibu Mansion and Hall of Armor sets and have some beginning of a layout. Just haven’t had any dedicated time to spend on it and need to spread everything out to figure out how it’s all going to come together. My wife is working from home too now and she took over the big table I’d normally use for something like this.

Edit:

I just did the Razor Crest pre-order and the Death Star set showed up for me automatically along with Poppy's Carriage whatever the hell that is.

Thanks for the info, the USA must have more stock than the EU then. I checked on the American site and saw the same as you, along with the *while stocks last at the bottom so guess I'll not bother this time, it was the free set I'd get to build now that was motivating me to preorder the Razor Crest anyway.

I got an Endor freebie when I ordered a Y-Wing last year but that was nowhere near May 4th, I guess they have these events and GWP more than once in the year? Will the same Death Star freebie be available later or is it unique every time?

Placement, honestly. I want two plates to sit flush next to eachother before I add on top of them, and it either wants to leave a gap, or have them connect on top/underneath.

Every Star Wars set is small for X amount of money.

The part count and size look about the same as the Snowspeeder or Y Wing. The A Wing is pretty standard overpriced SW fare.

It's not good at placing two parts that aren't connected. Place one plate down, put a brick on the edge, and then put the other plate you want, and then delete the brick.

Also, expect even more jank if you ever want to do a technic build. Some of the parts don't even connect together and getting an axle into the hole you want is an exercise in frustration. But it's still a great tool for farting around with Lego.

You could also set down a baseplate first instead of placing bricks on to the grey void if you've got a lot layout you want to do first, and then delete it when you're done.
I've mostly had the issue you're describing when trying to place wedge plates.

I would love to hear what that the "working" waterfall sounds like in person, without the calming music -- probably like getting a LEGO piece stuck in a vacuum. The globe is great. I actually really dig the fishing boat, especially in those colors.

Listen, Mr. Kansas Law Dog.
Law don't go around here.
Savvy?
Marry Poppins - Too huge and lacks fine detail. Ultimately, it's just 3 nice but simple buildings.
Cybertruck - Sorry, our "big gray mass" quota has been well met by the Star Wars line.
Goose Game - I wish. Would love more sub-$20 Ideas sets, but I don't know if this has the appeal to make it as a set. Goose Game was a brilliant little flash in the pan.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - LEGO doesn't do chrome anymore; how good would this look with pearl or metallic instead? Also, it's loving enormous.
Train Station - Heavy reliance on pieces that don't exist anymore. Major redesign needed. Also feels kinda basic / unimpressive, aside from its size.
SpaceX Falcon 9 - Alternate build: Hitachi
Projct Gemini - Oh my god just make Space its own theme already. This one's pretty cool I'm just so over it being all over IDEAS.
Bowling Alley - Dope, but huge. If made, will end up smaller.
Indiana Jones - It's good, but feels like a disappointing way to bring back this license
Bricks & Blooms - Never seen them accept a modular, and if they pick this, I'll just be upset they didn't take the way superior modular arcade from a couple review sessions ago.
Sonic Mania - Okay that's actually really good. Colorful, focused, spotlight on characters, not enormous. Best one so far.
Fishing Boat - Also really good! Interesting to see a full-hulled ship like this. I'd imagine they'd provide a stand of some sort if they made it.
KITT - I don't see anything new or interesting about the build. It feels pretty flat and boring with kind of amateur shaping. Not sure how valuable this license is to LEGO either.
Snow Groomer - Pretty loving cool. No complaints except, again, scale, but at least LEGO has shown that they really WANT to go big with Technic sets lately.
Castle - Looks fine. I like the interiors and especially the use of angles in the architecture, but it doesn't do much for me I guess.
Coraline - Nice build. Pretty drat big. Limited potential audience.
Rome - This looks like the most boring build of all time. The overall effect looks great, but it looks incredibly dull if you focus on any specific small part of it.
Ruined House - Again, this thing is loving huge. Look, it's the size of Assembly Square, but for just one house.
Krusty Krab - This is exactly as huge as the last one but my personal bias says let's roll with it anyway. Also, at least the scale is justified here with the interior.
Waterfall - Genuinely an interesting idea, but I'm not into it, nor am I interested in keeping the LEGO clean.
Miracle Express - This got 10k votes?
Futurama - I think Planet Express from the last batch has a better shot.
Iron Giant - MAYBE THIS WILL BE THE ONE, GUYS. LET'S KEEP SUBMITTING IRON GIANT UNTIL IT WORKS
Hyrule - No comment. I don't know poo poo about Zelda so I can't really gauge if this is enticing to people.
New Glenn Rocket - please, no more rockets, I'm begging you, I can't take anymo
Earth Globe - But does it have New Zealand?

Best odds: Sonic Mania
The one I want: Krusty Krab
No chance in hell: like 75% of these

Lego just needs to come out and say "We are working on more historical space sets" so I can stop wishing these ideas sets would get chosen. They did the lunar module, where is the CSM that attaches to it?

Edit: I think the Queen one is just another thing where people love whatever Queen thing it references despite it being a terrible looking set. Also, loving LOL at the historically accurate Rome. it's like 30 studs wide and over 60 long and it's mostly just 1x2 bricks scattered around a base plate. It's a nice thing to show off at some convention but why would Lego make that?

Ruined house looks fantastic, scale issues notwithstanding. Would love it if the Lego team could produce a slightly smaller version that holds up.

I hope they do a Forestmen-inspired build in the same spirit as Barracuda Bay. A big pirate ship, the big Space bases and ships, and the Forestmen bases were sets I always wanted and never got as a kid, so if Lego could keep supplying me with modernized versions of what I couldn’t get as a kid, I’d give them all my money.

There's a lot of really good stuff in this batch. Most of the best stuff doesn't seem viable to me. One that stands out that would probably translate well into an actual set would be the castle in the woods.

The ruined house and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are absolutely masterfully built, although I don't see either one happening and I wouldn't buy a CCBB set regardless of how good it is.

I really like the Castle in the Forest, but I'm a sucker for vintage Lego inspired stuff. As others said that could easily be turned into something like Barracuda Bay.

Don't really care about any of the others, although I suppose the snow groomer is cool in that big Technic set kind of way. Not sure that a pure Technic set would be a good choice for an Ideas set though, I'm not sure how much crossover there would be between those into Technic and those who would buy Ideas sets.
