At first I was wondering whether the calamity attacks were actually a combo of Awakening III Leaves and Paper Moon King. With the head doctor's monologue, it's beginning to seem like a reverse Paisley Park. I guess it may just be that Araki is rather incremental in his stand power ideas, often spinning one idea off of another.

yeah i kinda got the impression when they were chasing him in the hospital that he was moving impossibly fast every time they took their eyes off him.

Makes sense for a stand that travels in the perception of those pursuing him. I wonder if anybody else can even see the doctor while the pursuit is active; after all, it could be almost impossible to travel if there's a lot of people around, without obviously teleporting. Perhaps, the only doctor that everyone can see is the original.

Would I be missing out too much if I skip Stone Ocean and start steel ball run instead? I have kinda already had the ending for SO spoiled for me and it seemed pretty meh. Wacky racers with stands in the old west seems way more fun.

Jolyne is great and so is part 6, but if you're not into it then don't force yourself to read something you don't like.

Skip every part that doesn't sound interesting or that you'd rather experience animated first than in manga. Your JoJoJourney is yours to chart and is no less valid for going down a different path.

If it’s not your cup of tea, feel free to move on!

Johnny Joestar posted:jolyne literally lit herself on fire at one point and spends nearly every battle disemboweling herself And that's impressive I'm not going to lie but it's hampered by the fact that using her string isn't the same as disembowling herself nor do I remember her feeling any pain from the act unlike Johnny who does in fact feel pain fro m shooting his nail bullets and eventually just gets used to it. In terms of punishment Johnny still takes the prize; there's a reason a reason Araki wrote in the zombie horse and Hot pants because Johnny has been near fatally wounded numerous times. Not counting instances like Civil war where Johnny both shot an exact replica of his father, but he also let himself be killed to shift the stand back to it's user. Johnny and his dark intentions demonstrate that he's an utter madman. 'Yeah actually they will' is correct. Johnny would have shot the baby, Jolyne would not and that's a difference not so much in resolve but in humanity. Johnny has shown he's capable of throwing his away.

When I think hardcore I think more about what they're willing to do to themselves over what they're willing to do to others. I don't remember Johnny's stuff all that well but Jolyne had probably my most memorable action of setting herself on fire.

yeah i should elaborate, when i say 'hardcore' i kind of mean something different from 'ruthless' which is what johnny absolutely qualifies for i would argue that jolyne ends up going through the most punishment of them all and still comes out swinging every time. part 6 is a wild ride.
