I was talking to my mother over lunch today and she told me that she realized last night watching the news that it would be at least a year before she's able to see my sister and niece again because of the evilness of the President. And that realization hit her so hard she couldn't get to sleep until 3 am from the stress of it all. Cursing him and all his cronies and insane followers she seemed on the verge of tears. We both live in Maryland, one of the few states with somewhat sane leadership, so are lucky enough to be in a state where cases are going down; but my sister lives in the blighted state of Georgia. That this entire situation is avoidable and is only happening because of the mulish Republican rejection of reality makes even more infuriating.

yeah seeing that 32 states with increasing cases headline today re-lit the fire under my as of yet uninfected rear end. it was a nice little break I guess. I went into a few stores, bought some beer, rescued a dog, socially distanced with some relatives and friends, I even got to mean mug a bunch of dummies for not wearing masks. buying beer wearing a mask, sunglasses, and gloves was pretty neat

I have to seriously consider whether I want to quit my job. I've been there for almost a decade. I'm high up-ish. I like my coworkers. I detest the petulant, spoiled, lazy, dumb patrons at the casino. An ounce of empathy from them or my higher-ups would make a world of difference. I pushed for tighter restrictions and better health and safety precautions and got promised them, but now that the BIG boss went back to the head office, his assistant boss is trying to pull back on the commitment to safety. We need to shut down. Furlough me as long as needed. I'll come back. I've worked through this whole thing so far save two weeks. No hazard pay, no raises, took a pay cut. For a tribe of less than 1,500 they're pretty fuckin cavalier about this thing. Their elders are in the casino and they tell them they don't have to wear masks, or distance, or get temp-checked. Elders are held in high regard! I don't get it I don't loving get it. One quick dumb whine: my computer is dead so I can't even play games. I've been fishing. I go to the pond way out, miles from anywhere, and I kick back and bass fish and catch them and throw them back because I understand that if you take and take and take and put nothing back then nothing grows and next year there are less fish and they're smaller. We'd do well to be better conservationists for ourselves. These businesses take and take and take and next year there will be less and less until there isn't anymore and that's how it ends. It's how it all ends. Stay the gently caress at home. Please.
