This seems like a certainty at this point. My wife and I are looking at moving to New Zealand or at least Europe, if Americans are allowed in next year. I doubt we are the only ones giving serious consideration to fleeing the USA, so there'll probably be a ban on American refugees in a lot of the safest countries.

Seems like if there's no vaccine and nobody interested in containment, getting out of the USA the only way to get to what Wikipedia says my human lifespan is supposed to be.

Why not just move to Hawaii? That seems to be the safest place to be in the USA because they quarantine anyone coming in and are isolated. But I guess they even are having problems now. IDK how. Things are just insane.

I feel like Hawaii is gonna end up economically crippled because it relies on tourism so much and it's ultimately got a minority of chuds no doubt loving things up for everyone.

New Zealand does too, but I get the feeling it's a more robust country and the federal govt there would stave off an economic collapse.

Maybe Hawaii goons can clarify how things look over there...

Someone I know mentioned he was sick. I asked if he was ok and he said "oh it's just pink eye or something... an eye thing. it's better now than it was this morning", so I linked him to an article saying pink eye is a sign of coronavirus. He says he's fine today but I'm very suspicious! (I haven't seen this guy since March)

- clean the masks inbetween uses instead of providing fresh ones
- have not provided hazard pay at any point in this pandemic
- will not cover any covid-related outcomes unless employees can prove they caught it at careflite work

Would OSHA care about this? Any other agencies?

probably better off trying to get this information in the hands of the media or some other outlet who can publicly shame the company into complying. you might be able to get some local politician on board who can run with the whole 'PROTECT OUR FIRST RESPONDERS' type deal

you can file the OSHA complaint but there have been many reports of those types of complaints getting shut down instantly.

Spending 3+ hours in a closed space with other people and no masks seems like a surefire way to get infected if one person has it. Nothing to do with annoyance, you're perfectly accurate in identifying this as a failure.

Yes. At my work - which I haven't been to in four months, been WFH thankfully - they require masks in all public areas.

Except at your loving desk. In an 800 seat call center (I don't work in the call center part but my office is accessed by walking through the call floor).

They say its fine because they are keeping a 6 foot minimum between people right now. That's 100% hot loving garbage, there's only one HVAC system, there are no cubicles, everyone is sitting there without their masks on talking loudly into their headsets and spraying their spit all over the room.

Words cannot express how loving angry this makes me.

Real talk America's immigration system needs reform and immigration should be easier here. But it's way easier to immigrate to America than to emigrate from America to almost anywhere else. "I'm going to become a permanent resident of an EU nation or New Zealand" is just about as absurd a thought as thinking you're going to move to space.

Please don't feel bad about going on disability, it's for people who legitimately can't work and that sucks enough. Easier in the sense that unlike anywhere else you can sign up for a literal green card lottery to live in the US, but any of the more standard paths to immigration are practically impossible.
