I did a google search for flags of West Virginia and I found a very Web 1.0 site called crwflags.com that had many of them. The quality on the pictures is pretty low. I was surprised how unpublicized the flags of cities are. Anyway, here's a trip through a sample of the flags I could find. First off, the current flag of the state of West Virginia (adopted 1928). It is a pretty standard (bad) USA flag consisting of the state seal on a white background with a blue border. We have the date of the founding of the state along with some rhododendron (state flower) and two dudes who represent farming and industry. Lots of symbolism, but still bad. The first flag of WV was the following flag, which is just a bigass mountain laurel, which is a decent flag. Town/city flags Boliviar, WV -- a town somehow named after Simon Bolivar: Clarksburg, WV -- essentially a Scotland flag; there is a current scandal involving the VA Hospital Dunbar, WV -- comically bad flag Morgantown, WV -- home of the state's largest university, WVU; might be a decent flag without the seal, the shadow, and the jpeg artifacts on the edges of the "m" Parkersburg, WV -- reminds me of communist flags with wheat on the sides Benwood, WV -- some encouraging advice on this bad flag Charleston, WV -- capital city, MS paint bad flag Chapmanville, WV -- cant hide that tiger pride, cant hide that bad flag Huntington, WV -- home of the state's second largest university, Marshall University; a legendarily bad flag; what the gently caress is going on with that "H"?? Martinsburg, WV -- a city flag trying to be a US state bad flag Monongah, WV -- site of the worst mining disaster in US history in 1907 and one of the worst US city flags in 2020 Nitro, WV -- named because they produced nitrocelluose during WW1 and they produce bad flags in 2020 Wheeling, WV -- an actually really great city flag; recently elected the first openly trans person in WV history to the city council White Hall, WV -- pabst blue ribbon bad flag county flags...they're all just bad folks -- many of them have maps on them Barbour County, WV Calhoun County, WV Fayette County, WV Monongalia County, WV Morgan County, WV Raleigh, WV Roane County, WV

Sheesh, that "H" looks a bit like a stylized swastika. But other than that I think you could make this real nice. Take the wheel part, put the wings in it. Huntington goes at the top, the year at the bottom, scrap the rest

What I like about the US is that even tiny towns all seem to have their own, distinct flags. Even if they're mostly garbage, at least they're usually not the blue flags with generic Greco-Roman figures on them that all of their states seem to have. I live in a Flemish municipality of 22,000 and I have no idea what its flag is, and no one ever flies it except outside of town hall. It's probably 50 heraldic symbols and colors all crammed together, that's the traditional European way of making poo poo flags. e: yeah I wasn't too far off: It's like they realized the upper right and lower left were identical, so they added a W to the former. I have no idea what it stands for. lol and check out baby Jesus (I assume) waving at the audience. Phlegmish fucked around with this message at 19:00 on Jul 19, 2020 |

Pointless fun fact, but (assuming the stress is on the second syllable) your town name translates to "over here" in some Bavarian dialects

It gave me a visually offensive flag consisting of a magenta triangle, and four purple and orange stripes making it vertically non-symmetric. F- would not use that flag. (Equality/Humanity/Work)
