Also he mispronounced every non-white person’s name (and a couple white folks too but still) despite having the advantages of a) prerecording all nomination segments and b) phonetic pronunciations provided for every name. He called FIYAH “fee-yuh.”

Don't invite him to conventions, don't give him tickets to awards shows, don't write pointless "news" stories about how GRRM says he's gotten some more writing done, but no release date yet, still a lot of work to do! No one needs to hear another word out of his fat face until he's done with the book. There is absolutely nothing newsworthy about him until he announces Winds of Winter is going to the printers.

The entire series is full of promising ideas GRRM got tired of and abandoned before they came to fruition. Magic returning to the world - abandoned theme, completely irrelevant until the end. Red (?) magic especially never goes anywhere. Fates of Stark children linked to the direwolves - abandoned around one and a half books in. The Maester’s conspiracy: whatever was supposed to happen in that city where their HQ is - nothing came of that. The role of Varys - completely wasted. Actually, that stands for any character. Dorne - instead of engaging in a bit of light Orientalism, it becomes the dullest and least relevant sideshow. That rock leprosy or whatever - pretty much forgotten. That Stannis’ fool with the weird undersea song - irrelevant. The pirate dude with the Armageddon trumpet - whatever became of him?
