First one it is! I'm just glad I got two poses out of it, the Ciel Nova has a very cool design with very limited poseability.

Were the legs on your floppy as hell? I had to do a lot of joint tightening on mine to get it to just stay put.

The legs connecting to the waist were stupidly floppy yeah. That and the upper arm rotation was incredibly tight to the point where I'm too afraid to try making more poses

You are going to need so much future to tighten up the joints and whatnot. I love the kits but man did I have to treat every joint.

I mean I have a couple of plans with these that's gotten completely out of hand because my backlog grows faster than my build speed due to trying to do a GM/GM gunslinger.

They are, as follows

A Hildolfr-like mobile tank/armor but fitting a full mech inside rather than just having a torso, and accompanying escorts
A pair of Alto Flight Types with a special commander type using the 30mm plane parts
GP03 but with something more along the lines of SRW D's Blanc Neige + Ars Nova docking scheme.

The Leos are just to give my RG Tallgeese a grunt squad. Most of the Build Fighters/Divers is just going to be straight builds.

Grunt project might be scrapped for me, as I just inherited a fairly wrecked PG 00 Raiser, which I'm gonna turn into a custom.

Did a Maganac for my grunt build, nice kit but wow that head has just no articulation.

Endorph
Jul 22, 2009

I think it uses some of the structure of the Leo kit? Which is, uh, a Leo, so the no head articulation probably comes from that.

00 Raiser Repair

I'm swaying to making a heavily modded 00. The Raiser itself, and all it's weapons are actually unmade, so that gives a ton of options. For now though, I'm stripping the 00 down to rough parts, and de-gunking paint-jammed joints. There's actually very little breakage to the kit, it's just very gunky around it's joints, and there's a few inconsequential bits missing.

gently caress me, though. What a lovely way to design joints, Bandai. I can see why people cite it on par with the Wing for being a lovely PG.

The Leo's head has some articulation if you're not bottoming it out on the ball joint. Problem is it's super limited due to the head's chin being trapped between the two raised sections of its torso. The Maganac looks to have a similar issue?

Zeether
Aug 26, 2011

I got the 30MM option parts 1 and once I figured out the joint system I ended up putting the rail gun things on the ground type Alto's tank backpack with swivel joints so they could fold up and rotate forward. loving amazing.

Yeah, it would have normal articulation if it wasn’t trapped.

Is revoltech a better quality than figuarts? I'm looking for Lupin and Jigen figures. The revoltech ones are pretty pricey and I'm wondering if they're worth it or if the figuarts line is totally fine.

I'd say they're the about the same quality in general with Figuarts being the better of the two overall with some major blowouts on both sides (Revoltech Ultron is a million years ahead of Figuarts Ultron for example). Revoltechs are very popular but I've hated every single one that wasn't a robot/eva, the joints are great for dynamic poses but I find a more neutral pose very difficult. I'd recommend looking at some reviews like hacchaka and Shishioh and seeing which one you prefer the look and style of. I've got the Figuarts Lupin and Fujiko and they're good.
