I absolutely love Hollow Knight, I think it is a fantastic game. Anybody who disagrees needs to face up to a hard, ugly fact, and that is that you and I share a differing opinion on a matter of subjective taste.

The game where you're a stupid insect, walking around deviant art aimlessly until you have to do some horrific jumping puzzle with a massive walk back when you fail so that you can do your minimal and boring attacks to a different shaped white deviant art bug while all the characters pretend that there's something interesting underneath the surface of this terrible melee based mega man game. what if dark souls was 2D and no one on the team that made it was talented.

dark souls didn't create mysterious "what is this" "what's happening" stuff in games or remembering boss tells or anything. that came from a bunch of poo poo on the NES and dark souls is good because it recreated it well while fleshing it out a lot. the hollow knight devs were 3 people inspired by metroid, faxanadu and castlevania 2 and did ok even if it's not a big success in terms of being interesting.

I don't understand playing Hollow Knight when the Ori games exist, particularly the second one where the combat is, uh, "influenced" by Hollow Knight to smooth out the problems of the first one.

I am still thinking about that scene at the end where Shriek goes to lie in the arms of her turned-to-stone dead parents, so that she can die with the smallest of comforts. Messed up. Third place for me I think. GOTY was either Hades or Cyberpunk 2077.

I watched Vivarium and three of the most bothersome things about the movie was the hopelessness of it all in that I didn't believe that the protagonists would overcome their situations, we never knew the motivation or the identity of the horrors though the cuckoo imagery at the beginning alludes to something, also the horror the protagonists go through, made me think that it showed how difficult life with kids can be.

Yep, the spaceport’s pretty universally considered the low point of the game, but things definitely pick up after that if you can power through. My final time for p5r ended up around 160 hours, but that’s also because i’m crazy and feel the need to run around all of the maps to check to see if there’s new dialogue from the random npcs every few in game days.

I found the ship to be the low point personally. I did a second playthrough to try to get all the achievements but I lost steam once I realized I'd have to go through it again. Also because the 'get all the books' achievement was so fiddly.

The ship was the worst part of Persona 5 but I think space is probably the worst part of Persona 5 Royal.

I actively dislike most of the platformers or side scrolling adventures that get all critically acclaimed Limbo, Ori, Rayman, Hollow Knight, The Swapper; anything like that. Most of them are bad imo. Cannot be enjoyed. It seems like really good artists have a dreamy weird story to tell and not much game to do. There is a kind of hopelessness to most of their metaphors which I don’t enjoy in fiction (Rayman is just straight goofy I believe, so points back there). I have had to come to this realization over years of many dumb purchases.

I try to "speedrun" the game every few months, until end of main story. Got it down to 45 minutes and I'm starting to feel like if I want to improve the time I need to Learn the Speedrun, but I am Lazy.
