One of the dojo dogs ran away last night and they've spent all day out looking and want people to help them. Hopefully they find the missing dog; must be worrying! The way I'd describe Marvelous is that its a promotion that has elements of being a nostalgia promotion (Nagayo being a big part of every show despite not ever wrestling; they use a lot of Nagayo's old friends like KAORU, Tomoko Watanabe and Chikayo Nagashima regularly plus others used to appear before Takumi officially took over day-to-day affairs) with trying to build a new roster. It sort of balances a lot of traditional elements (the overall dojo training is nicer than it used to be but it still comes from that tradition; its also a live in dojo which is somewhat unusual; they are one of the last promotion to have the old rookie swimsuit as a long term thing for debuting rookies with the moment that wrestlers get their individual gear being a notable thing) with things that are very modern: they had probably the second most active YouTube presence during the COVID era behind only Gatoh Move (did couple of shows but it was mostly live exercise streams) and things like their pro tests being in public which others have since copied ([url=https://youtu.be/QnDltLJ-644]here's an example featuring the second generation of rookies including Maria having a very tough time throughout the whole thing although she did pass her second attempt) which I think help to build that connection between fans and wrestlers even before someone debuts. Its my favourite promotion: I dig the vibe of it. The second generation (who I don't think count as rookies anymore) were a big part of me getting into it since Marvelous had to rely heavily on them when Mio and Rin got hurt: since they properly started back post-COVID (they did a load of shows with just signed wrestlers which with a smaller roster made them rather weird) they've been great: the Sendai Girls feud has been very good and the Hibiki stuff has been... interesting and I'm really curious where it goes. Having Mio back really helps: especially them slottering her the ace slot while Takumi is hurt which would be a much greater loss than it feels like it has been. The lack of titles can help them since it can mean that they have a different feel and in a promotion like them a Marvelous Title would just sit on Takumi forever. I would disagree with the idea that they focus on 'cuteness' any more than your average Joshi promotion: they have that strong audience connection but I honestly think that's more because of everyone relation to Nagayo more than anything else - perhaps you can say Mio and Mei but Mio apparently is going to move in a more serious direction if you believe the last Weekly Pro interview she did.

You can only get one trial, so keep that in mind. For most people it probably won’t matter though.

Did I ever mention how loving weird I find Tam Nakano? I kind of think she purposely pushes it into insane, "I will murder you if you try to leave me" levels of energy and I love it. I wonder how much of it is done straight because it's Japan and Stardom is especially idol level type stuff.

Okay, since YouTube autoplay dropped me into Arisa Hoshiki's band again today and I looked at her twitter to what she and the band are up to, I happened to stumble on some wholesome Tam content to pull the thread back up: https://twitter.com/udonsato_udn/status/1354006505289261056 Also two anonymous fans rocking her band's merch: https://twitter.com/udonsato_udn/status/1354342547921883138

She did the tearaway pants challenge, yeah. Then there was a story of her and Miho competing by making bento boxes for Taichi. I think Taichi and Miho were just really bored during lockdown and kept running ridiculous Twitter angles like Taguchi getting Miho's services for the month of March

I believe its a public information film about the tax system and how to file your taxes. That was the theme for the whole show: was done in association with some government body wanting to educate people on how to properly file their taxes or something; its all a bit weird. The stip of the main event was that to win you had to get a two count and then correctly answer a question about taxes.

I think that's the most bizarre stipulation I've heard of.
