Working from home completely reinvigorated my movie watching habits. E: what a bad snipe. I really like that several posters doing the bracketology thread have letterboxd its fun reading people's fresh reactions to the crazier movies in the tournament

Welp, there's a new edition of the They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? list, which means I just spent all morning updating my two TSPDT Letterboxd lists: They Shoot Pictures, Don’t They? 1,000 Greatest Films (updated for 2021) They Shoot Pictures, Don’t They? – The Complete List (Every Film From Every Edition)

Very glad to hear! And you're welcome. This update rocks because it bumped me up over 50%. I'm at 502/1000 now.

42% for the 2021 list, with 423/1000 seen. For the new total list, I'm at 33% with 510/1502 seen. Still a long road ahead...

Every time I notice a film is available on criterion channel and tubi it whips rear end. Is there a way to jointly filter on a pro account

Are you asking whether you can filter for movies that are on Tubi OR CC or movies on Tubi AND CC? You can do the first by setting Tubi and CC as your favorite services in your profile and then filtering by your services, but I don't know if you can do the second.

I've got both of them (and others) plugged in and it's wouldn't be terribly hard to cross-reference the two for my watchlist (or on a given list etc), but being able to find the middle of the CC-Tubi venn would be awesome

The only thing I could suggest is a trick I use to search for Kanopy/Hoopla exclusive movies. I search one of them on https://www.justwatch.com/ and then just look at any movie i'm interested in to see if its got other streaming options. Its not terribly convenient but its the the best I know.

lol Portrait of a Lady on Fire has the star rating option replaced by... fires. Between this and the blood drip when you filter by horror, I don't know any other website of similar size that does as many or as fun easter eggs.

I might be totally overlooking it but is there a way to sort my movies by date watched? My diary section is always missing a few things and I don’t write something about all of them so I can’t rely on reviews.

If you go to Films under your name, you can sort by date added. This will show all of your films, not just the ones you've logged as diary entries.

I don't think it's a pro feature. I seldom use the app because the interface is so different from what I'm used to with the web version. This might be another example of that.

What am I missing? I feel like there's a giant film or series of films that all cover "people forced into horrible situations to cover medical costs" that points to a broader theme. Like, not movies just about the medical world (like Bringing out the Dead or whatever) and not just movies about people dying from cancer or whatever (Bucket List) but specifically movies about how hosed America is and how these movies are utterly incomprehensible to people in countries with UHC.

Does Letterboxd/TMDB have specific criteria for when it lists a TV series and when it doesn't? I got to thinking about this when I noticed The Queen's Gambit is on there. And when does a series merit having each episode have its own entry, ala Dekalog?

Twin Peaks: Peaky Triple was bouncing on and off the site for awhile until they screened it at Moma - after that, they decided it was sufficiently a movie. Not sure if they have officially clarified what counts or if it's just whack a mole. All of that seems to be collapsing as this mono-Content becomes more prevalent. Down the road, Content won't be labeled as film or mini-series, it'll just have a runtime and editing to imply whether you should use the pause button or not (ie whether the Content is best consumed at once or broken into episodic bits)

Currently at 32/66 and I've just started the Hot Springs Geisha series which is the one with a couple entries that only have 2 views. The only good ones star Meiko Kaji or occasionally Reiko Ike. There's another list I can't find right now that's Yakuza themed that I also dip into.
