hello friends.

if you like your metal production clean and crisp that's fine, we've come a long way from the average cassette tape recording you and your mates faffing about in your parents' garage could whip up.

however I cannot deny the charm a "lesser" production possesses, so what are some demos that just really do it for you?

I cannot pick between either Armoured Angel - Wings of Death

or Poison - Into The Abyss

as they both loving rule.

I got into it with him on another site and pressed him on why he rejoined and he just kept making jokes trying to deflect until he finally said "I've already said all im going to say about rejoining" and got sad I was giving him poo poo. I don't know if he ever actually made a statement about it or just quietly rejoined the band.

its good and cool and my friend.

quote:

Forging influences of Bands like CELTIC FROST, WINTER, GRIEF or even BOLT THROWER and ASPHYX, the eight punishing tracks walk on a rusty knife's edge. Split between the pounding pace of ancient Death Metal and the elegiac pomp of Funeral Doom, STONEWIELDERS' latest effort is a spiritual successor to DISEMBOWELMENT more than it resembles current run-of-the-mill OSDM of Scandinavian variety.

Yes also listen to Henchman's band and buy a candle, and that Stonewielders influenced by section is very enticing.

Edit: hit the Old Nick and it's his usual style of good black metal with very funny synths over the top of it. Dreamshade was way better than I expected, they just take the modern In Flames formula but do it better than IF do. Jamming Brand of Sacrifice right now and it do be goin hard

You and whose knees?

In the mid 2000s (the last time I interacted with people who'd unironically refer to themselves as "kvlt", "trve", or the lesser spotted "frostbitten") I'd find most of my black metal in invite-only DC++ and SoulSeek rooms where you could be banned for liking anything except obscure Ukrainian RAC bands with more hate crime convictions than demo tapes. If you'd heard of a band, they weren't "kvlt"; it was literally that absurdly elitist.

To be clear I'm not for one second suggesting that forums user Kvlt! is anything like those dorks. I'm riffing on deadking's equally jokey suggestion that you can't call yourself "kvlt" unless you like lots of black metal tapes. "Kvlt" dorks didn't like lots of black metal tapes, they liked an obsessively curated handful.

If y'all are big Inter Arma stans like me, they re-recorded Hallucinatorium off their first album Sundown and just released it yesterday.

Kinda like the mix on the original better, but the instrumentation on this version is better.
