fun times yesterday as an electrician came by to put in a new outlet by the toilet so I can get an electric bidet seat

here's what it looked like mid-process, just need to wait a few week for painters to patch and repaint. I ended up deciding on a 36" mirror with a thin black frame.

new toilet and tile will be going on Monday after next

On soap dispenser chat, I've never heard of a dish soap dispenser, just hand.

On that topic though it would be amazing for there to be an under sink dish soap repository that connects to your faucet, with an extra button or toggle or whatever to toggle soap mode on, from the faucet.

I mean it's obvious that this doesn't exist because drinking soapy water would suck but someone flush this idea out plz thx.

Obviously this one is cheap garbage, but it's definitely a dish soap dispenser.

That's interesting and I like it, but I mean mixed in to the water flow from the faucet.

I think that might have some issues when your next glass of water tastes like soap when someone leaves the mixture on and just shuts off the water.

Youd also need to run something like dishwasher soap because the foaming would be intense with traditional dish soap.

I was watching Queer Eye last night and they put some kind of smart faucet in the guy's kitchen connected to an Alexa where you could say, "Alexa, dispense six cups of water!" and it would automatically turn on the water and cut it off. I can imagine a few instances where metered water like that would be useful (my husband used to be a baker in a large scale artisanal bakery and they had metered water, but that was like gallons and gallons) but overall it seemed like an unnecessary tech flex.

I'm not a big fan of smart devices overall, I must say. No one should be able to hack my faucet.

I saw a commercial like that, "[StupidProductName] fill [child]'s bottle" and I imagined having to go on and set the parameters for "[Child]'s bottle" and say the command phrase three times or whatever, and it just made me feel more tired overall than the idea of turning on a tap and then turning it off seconds later.

Yeah, I've put these up for listings. Alongside things that I actually hesitated to even list like "oven that you can set to preheat on your way home", which is a big ol gently caress NO for anyone with more than just themselves at home, and still something I wouldn't want even if it was just me. Hello massive fire hazard.

The faucets... I've never seen anyone use them for a practical purpose besides flexing on others.

Chasing the dream.
OMG the floor of this house is the exact floor I grew up with in a mid century FL home as well. I LOVED it, it made growing up without AC actually kinda bearable (floor always felt cool at least.)

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4601-1st-Ave-S-Saint-Petersburg-FL-33711/47141604_zpid/

The tile work in that bathroom is way more garish than what we had, but otherwise was very similar. I remember those soap holders. If I were about to give up on life and retire to FL I would snatch this in a nostalgic heartbeat.

Such a shame the house I grew up in got hit with a flipper stick and they slapped ugly uneven white tile over the floor.

Credit due on having a proper AGA. I wouldn’t want one of those running all summer in Southern California though, even at the coast summers are warmer in Socal than people think.

Just going by the sterotype of people who live in costal north county San Diego, they probably run the aga all year and turn on the air conditioner when it gets too warm.

I also bet they will insist that they live in Carlsbad and that their Oceanside address is a technicality.

yeah I don't get that, sometimes people will do it because they have something else below it that covers the lower part of the wall. Very bad design, I would keep the mounted tv at the same height you would have it if it were on a stand.

People have been doing it that way (ie incorrectly) since tv's could be wall mounted. Hell even before, they made CRT wall mounts but I can't picture on in a house ever, just at hospitals near beds, which is actually the right spot in that situation.

I'm sure at least some of those brackets can lower the TV a few feet when in use.

Flatscreens made it easier, for sure. My house came with a really nice mount above the fireplace that I pulled down and threw in a box before putting the TV on a stand in the opposite corner of the room. I'll never understand why people want their TVs up so high.
