I always kinda boggle at how much time was invested into selecting and buying all the stuff these huge houses are densely sprinkled with. Like how many decisions that represents.

And yet seemingly all these decisions were made without a defining, central aesthetic

the new bathroom floor is halfway done, I still need to address the incredibly dated framed cabinets, but this floor will be a huge improvement over the yellow-orange tile that was color matched to my dog's vomit

Not strictly interior design but kinda? I was at IKEA yesterday picking up some frames and saw this Allen key flashlight that was just so strange I had to get it. It's part of some 2021 art show they are doing.

Hey all. I could use some design help. We are going to make some cosmetic changes to our 1931 Denver faux-Tudor home. The interior has been stripped of all charm by previous owners and replaced with 90s ugliness. We want to undo that. I’m looking for a good source on period fireplace tile (to replace the shower tiles they stuck all over the fireplace). Also a source for reproduction Tudor-style lighting? If you know of any. The Denver Tudor style is heavy on the Spanish/Moroccan influences.

I'm not sure what exact look you're going for though. Post an example and I might be able to get you more in the neighborhood. https://www.fireclaytile.com/ https://www.heathceramics.com/pages/heath-tile

Motawi is $$$ but for a hearth you could just use a couple art tiles as accents. My parents have 4 of the 6x6 tiles in their upstairs bathroom. I just looked up the price, $74 each. Jesus.

almost done, got toilet and electric bidet seat put in, just waiting for the mouldings and door to be replaced while I definitely want a frameless style, that stained maple color isn't actually that bad. I think I will eventually go with something similar or lighter when I do new doors.

You guys are totally awesome! Thanks so much! We are not sure what we want yet. Mostly the only fireplaces I’ve seen with original tile are in super huge mansions. Our house is not fancy. It probably just had bricks or a smooth plaster finish originally. Can’t tell with the way it’s been updated.
