Now, it's a bit to the NW of DC proper, but it would help a LOT with the Maryland <-> Virginia connections.

I know that you know this, but I want to be clear that that is, no joke, an excellent place for a bridge.

It makes a good connection to Dulles, bottom image, left of center. Existing bridges are I-495 to the right and US-15 way up near the top left corner. That dead-end road west out of Poolesville is where the dumb ferry used to operate.

i was curious about that one, is it an exhibit? there's no marks on the wall from where previously attached stairs would have been.

It might have only been attached to the wall every 4 treads or so. It also looks like it has a small gap between the wall and the staircase for some reason.
