I'm in love with this couch design (the arm pillow situation specifically) but it's made by a super low-end place. Please tell me it's a knockoff of something higher-quality?

Liquid Communism posted:Welp, my entire front room is a rug, one end table, and a lamp for 12-15 weeks. I'm working on product lines with 20+ week lead times on them, and sometimes I do have to wonder about the kind of people who are willing to overpay by 2-3x the value of what they're buying and still wait 5 months for it to arrive, just for a name brand. Not even for construction quality, it's not like we're talking pure hardwood furniture or something, it's just a name brand vs a slightly lesser name brand. Not judging you with that, just reflecting on my own work as it relates to the thread.

I had to yell at La-Z-Boy to get a consoled love seat after waiting two weeks because they told me it was in stock at the store. Turns out they didn't and just wanted to make the sale. Luckily I also had a recliner about 4 weeks on order and threatened to cancel both if I didn't get my love seat by the end of the week which gave me immense leverage.

The NC house is awesome but I can't help but think it's not a climate-appropriate design. Blocky flat-roof glass-wall houses work well in California, not so much in a place with a winter and significant rainfall. Someone in my neighborhood fb group posted this and everyone was like, "Noooo don't get rid of your sick Don Quixote mantle! Or at least cover it up in a nondestructive way," so now the poster is looking in to getting it restored instead of replaced. It's so weird, I love it.

The poster said it has about 7-8 layers of paint on it and is crumbling, so she's going to look into historical restoration because it's one her favorite features in her house. In the comments, someone said they knew the previous owner and the mantle was installed in the 60s after the play Man of La Mancha came out.

Anne Whateley posted:I thought being obsessed with name mcm designers was your whole thing I'm not a big MCM person, though I certainly like some pieces. I really like furniture with legs that are not wood or MDF, like perforated steel, which is definitely a later style. I also really dislike red, so common MCM furniture colors like teak and rosewood are just not for me. that's cool about the background though, it just seems like an incredibly inflexible piece of furniture. It can't be repositioned without cutting into the ceiling again. actionjackson fucked around with this message at 17:52 on Aug 7, 2021 |

as a parent, a swing seat brings big negative decor vibes into my life I finally found the light fixture I want to replace the chandelier in our dining room and of course it’s over budget at $800 and we have other furniture and chimney bs we have to deal with. Noooo can’t just want a ‘modern farmhouse’ fixture from Lowes Depot, can I?
