Man, I don't know if anyone ever checks out any talk radio these days but holy poo poo these guys are just on autopilot now - more so than usual I mean - like they're built in a factory. Which they more or less are. They're not even offensive or outrageous enough to be interesting or funny in a stupid way and just check off Outrage Boxes all loving day. Liberal Media this and Socialism that with a healthy sprinkling of boogeypeople ("fact checkers" I think are the new ones) that we're supposed to hate and maybe an occasional story that "the MSM won't tell you" but they're just...lazy, combined with being full of poo poo. It's like listening to a commercial all day designed to make you like and hate things. Enough people out there must still truly enjoy this sort of thing but, more than ever, I really don't get it. At least Limbaugh had some polish to him and with his presentation to where I could see why someone might listen to that poo poo every day or find it entertaining enough but, man, this new batch of talk show hosts really loving suck.

This is actually a possible critical make-or-break point for the imperial propaganda machines: if their adaptations to the changing media spaces aren’t sufficient, the baseline of legitimacy they can afford to establish will drop. It’s less succinct then the capitalists selling us the rope we’re about to use to hang them, and also less effective, but it’s the little things like this from which I extract my dying hopes!

I just think that talk radio is no longer the real space for the conservative movement at this point. It was pretty clear by the time Obama became President that it just didn't matter much anymore and that the real stuff was on the Internet. Even Limbaugh was pretty irrelevant throughout the Trump years, because by then he had been passed by.

Right, to me the critical factor is continuing to find ways to keep the Katamari brainworms rolling; we’re seeing a bunch of indicators which could be explained by entropy winning that fight right now. Obviously there’s a whole ecosystem of third rate Bens Shapiro and Bakeds Alaska hunting for the new killer app, but a tiny glimmer of hope is a big deal for me these days.

No meaning to kramer into the thread, but the issue is they need something to hook young people. I honestly believe GamerGate is what caused the rise of the current nazis, and that was lead up to by the ironic nazism that was so popular in the edgey rear end in a top hat years of the early 2000s. You used to see lots of nazi stuff everywhere, but when someone got called out for it or whatnot, they'd just go "hey its just a joke" and it would be accepted, because lol you're just a fragile little princess that seeing someone named Jewstompter69 in your Counterstrike game who uses Hitler sprays made you upset. No one seriously believes any of that. And those same kids lived in places where there was nothing, suburban and bedroom communities that were bereft of any kind of activities for anyone who didn't want to do sports or the church, so they retreated into video games and anime, and the cultures that came from them. And this became their identity, their whole life became video games and the communities they built up online around them. Their identity became I play Halo, I play Gears, I play WoW, I play, i dunno, Neopets or something. As most of these people are young men, and also young men who are socially awkward and probably not really the kind of guys the girls they're into are going to date. This creates resentment among them, but its kept online and in their communities: "That bitch oval office Jennifer won't date me, but I can at least go on and play Battlefield with my bros and forget about her. She's probably a lesbian anyways". By having so many young men completely aimless, no futures, and having a lot of resentment to the world bottled up, they were easy targets of the lovely guys who wanted to push hatred. All they needed to do is go in and start saying "hey did you know women are playing video games more and more? Did you know they want to take away hyper violent manly games? They want to make all games walking simulators that talk about feelings or make everything Animal Crossing. You should do something about it, hey come join our community" and that snowballs into more "Can't get a good job? Immigrants. Can't get a girlfriend? Feminism. Your hometown is a decaying shithole? Black people" and so on. Hooks sink deeper into them like a Cenobite dealing with someone who opens the box until that ironic, jokey racism and nazism they had done, has become full fledged nazism. I mean its more complex than that, but the underlying thesis is there was and still is a lot of young men who feel completely hopless and are easy targets for these groups. That is how extremists work, but in the US the problem isn't an occupying force exploiting your nation for its resources, but its just naked greed and capitalism making everything lovely, but they'd rather turn a whole generation of young men into nazis than pay slightly more taxes or pay their workers a living wage.

Day 2 of Lindells Cyber Symposium over and people are sad. A 'hacker' named @Erratarob was brought in as one of their experts and has been posting poo poo as the days move on. He said the screens have been scrolling blurry hexdumps of the supposed irrefutable data that no one can read that they were supposed to get access to on day 1 but at this point still havent seen it.
