I spend all day looking at public health metrics, 2020 vs 2019 routine medical care like dental visits were down a fair bit, treatment for substance abuse disorders was up but that's because telehealth qualified as treatment, all other things were about the same.

It’s cool where I live because there’s a bunch of bad city smells, but I can also tell that I’m near a river, that there are restaurants nearby, fires from homeless camps, car fumes, all that stuff you kind of ignore just pops right up to the front of your awareness.

folks it looks like india is rising in cases again news starting to bubble out: https://www.livemint.com/news/india/covid-third-wave-in-india-cases-rising-in-some-states-indicates-the-same-icmr-11630381921586.html raw cases per day ticked up:  we're about 5 months out from their early april surge start. if they start rising and eventually surging again--loving yikes, even the natural immunity argument is total horseshit.

I feel like bus driver shortages are a nationwide thing which makes sense because a lot of bus drivers are retiree age and like having something that gets them out of the house every day for part of the year and that's definitely a cohort that isn't gonna want to be engaging with dozens of maskless kids each day right now.

a fourth case of contamination found in moderna shots in japan: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-58405210 this is super strange. they found a contaminated batch and then saw two people died after getting it. then they saw another person got a shot that was contaminated but from a different batch. and now this week they see another contaminated batch what in the gently caress.... apparently these are being made by a factory in spain IIRC
